EMC test is required

It must be clarified/informed,
in which EMC environment
the assemby will be placed.
If components to a known
EMC environment are used,
and if the guidelines of the
manufacturer are followed,
the assembly needs not to be
tested.
If components to an unknown
EMC environment are used,
or if the guidelines of the
manufacturer are not used,
the assembly must be tested.
Test vs no test depends on
the environment, used components, and how these are
fitted.

EMC Environment
Unless subject to special agreement, assemblies conforming to IEC / EN 60439-1, 7.10 are intented for use in the
environmental condition Environment 1 or Environment 2 as described below.
The environmental condition 1 or 2 shall be stated in the manufacturers documentation.

NOTE - The following list, although not
comprehensive, gives an indication of locations
which are included.
- residential properties, e. g. houses, apartments;
- retail outlets, e. g. ships, supermarkets;
- business premisses, e. g. offices, banks;
- areas of public entertainment, e. g. cinemas,
public bars, dance halls;
- outdoor locations, e. g. petrol stations, car
parks, sports centres;
- light-industrial locations, e. g. workshops,
laboratories, service centres.
Based on IEC / EN 60 439-1, 7.10.1

NOTE - Industrial locations are characterized by

one or more of the following conditions:
- industrial, scientific and medical apparatus,
e. g. working machines are present;
- heavy inductive or capacitive loads are
frequently switched;
- currents and associated magnetic fields are
high.

Consideration of appropriate remidies
against EMC disturbances in envioronments other than those described under environment 1 and 2 shall be subject to agreement between the
manufac-turer of the assembly and the
user.
Based on IEC / EN 60 439-1, 6.2.10

NOTE - Environment from 1 and 2 shall not be taken as

environment 3. It can be "everything"

Power supply from own transformer,(but

there are a lot of exceptions).
