I. INTRODUCTION MEANING OF OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE (OSS)
Open source software (oss) is defined as computer software for which the sourcecode and
certain other rights normally reserved for copyright holders are providedunder a software
license that meets the Open Source Definition or that is in the public domain. This permits
users to use, change, and improve the software, andtoredistribute it in modified or unmodified
forms.
MEANING OF HARDWARE
A computer's hardware consists of the physical components necessary to operateand interact
with a computer. Since a computer's primary language is binary, devices are necessary to
convert our input into that language. The binary codecoming out of the computer must also
be translated into something usable for theoperator.
MEANING OF SOFTWARE
Software is often divide into two categories:1.
System Software
:
Includes the operating system and all the utilities that enables the computer to function.
2
.
Application Software
: Includes programs that do real work users. For examples, word proccessors, spreadsheets,
and database management system fall under category of applicationsoftware.
FEDORA LINUX
A Linux-based operating system that showcases the latest in free and open sourcesoftware.
Fedora is always free for anyone to use, modify, and distribute. It is built by people across the
globe who work together as a community: the FedoraProject. The Fedora Project is open and
anyone is welcomed to join.
SPREADSHEET
A spreadsheet is a computer application that simulates a paper, accounting worksheet.
Itdisplays multiple cells usually in a two-dimensional matrix or grid consisting of rows
andcolumns. Each cell contains alphanumeric text, numeric values or formulas. A formula
defineshow the content of that cell is to be calculated from the contents of any other cell
(or combination of cells) each time any cell is updated. Spreadsheets are frequently usedfor
financial information because of their ability to re-calculate the entire sheet
automaticallyafter a change to a single cell is made. A pseudo third dimension to the matrix is
sometimesapplied as another layer, or layers/sheets, of two-dimensional data.

media, and less focus on traditional broadcast media like previous generations of
televisionsets and set-top boxes always have had.The technology that enables Smart TVs is
not onlyincorporated into television sets, but also devices such as set-top boxes, Blu-ray
players, gameconsoles, and other companion devices. These devices allow viewers to search
and find videos, movies, photos and other content on the web, on a local cable TV channel, on
a satellite TVchannel, or stored on a local hard drive.
GPS
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based global navigation satellitesystem
(GNSS) that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the
Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. It
ismaintained by the United States government and is freely accessible by anyone with a
GPSreceiver. The GPS project was developed in 1973 to overcome the limitations of
previousnavigation systems, integrating ideas from several predecessors, including a number
of classifiedengineering design studies from the 1960s. GPS was created and realized by the
U.S.Department of Defense (USDOD) and was originally run with 24 satellites. It became
fullyoperational in 1994.
6.0 CONCLUSION
Open Source can be used by anyone and because it has no copyright claims, so users are free
touse, change, and improve the software, and to redistribute it in modified or unmodified
forms.Pervasive Computing is to make our lives easier because we can interact with
computers.Besides that, we can easily give the computer commands and the computer will
grant your wish.
