PreliminaryInstructionsandNotes
1. Readthisentireprocedurebeforebeginningthecalibration.
2. CalibrationshallbeperformedinanenvironmentthatconformstoManufacturer

3. ThedigitalmultimeterwillhereafterbereferredtoastheInstrumentUnderTest
(IUT).
4. VerifythattheIUTisclean.
5. VisuallyexaminetheIUTforanyconditionthatcouldcauseerrorsinthecalibration.
6. Ifanyoftherequirementscannotbemet,refertotheapplicablemanufacturer
manual.
7. Ifamalfunctionoccursoradefectisobservedwhilecalibrationisinprogress,the
calibrationshallbediscontinuedandnecessarycorrectiveactiontakenifcorrective
actionaffectsameasurementfunctionpreviouslycalibrated,thefunctionshallbe
recalibratedbeforetheremainderoftheprocedureimplemented.

ThespecificationsoftheIUTaredeterminedbytheapplicablemanufacturer's
documentation.Ifthemanufacturer'sdocumentationisnotavailable,thenthe
specificationsidentifiedinthisprocedureareused.
EquipmentRequired
TheStandardslistedbelowshouldbeselectedonthebasisoftheirhigheraccuracylevel
whencomparedtotheunitundertest.EquivalentStandardsmustbeequaltoorbetter
thantheMinimumUseSpecification.

Turnallpoweron(calibratorandtheunittobecalibrated).Allowtheinstrumentsto
stabilizeforapproximately5minutes.Conductthetestsinanambienttemperatureof25
5Candarelativehumidityoflessthan80%.
Note:IftheIUThasanautomaticrangingfeature,thenthefunctionbeingchecked(i.e.
voltage,current,orresistance)mustbeverifiedinthevariablerangemodeaswell.
BatteryReplacement
ReplacethebatteryintheIUTandmakesurethebatterycontactsarenotdirty.

selectorswitch(s)is/areworkingproperly.MakesuretheLowBatteryindicatorisnot
showing.

ConnectthecalibratorbetweentheV/ohmandcommoninputterminalsoftheIUT.Use
thefollowingcharttoverifytheresistancevalues.

4. Connectthetestleadstothecontinuitytestfixturebetweenthe100ohmtest
points.Notoneshouldbeheardindicatingnonterminatingconnection.
5. Connectthetestleadstothecontinuitytestfixturebetweenthe50ohmsetup.The
testtoneshouldindicatecontinuitybetweenthetestpoints.
DCVOLTAGETEST
1. UsethecalibratortosupplythecorrectDCvoltagelistedbelow.
2. Setthecalibratorforazerovoltinput.
3. ConnectthecalibratoroutputtotheV/ohmandcommoninputterminalsoftheIUT.
Note:Connecttheground/common/lowsideoftheRotek2500tothecommonon
theIUT.
4. Withreferencetothetablebelow,selecttheIUTvoltagerangeandsetthe
calibratoroutputtothecorrespondingIUTinputvoltage.Testperthefollowing
chartandverifythatthedisplayfallswithinthelimitsgiven.
