Purpose
This document explains the predominant features of Facebook.

1 Introduction
Facebook is an online social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles,
post photos and videos, and send messages to friends, family, relatives and colleagues. Every
user with a Facebook account can connect with other registered users and share photos,
videos, and messages. Facebook also provides an option to user, to accept a connection or
decline connection with other users.

2 Creating Facebook Account

Create a Facebook account with a valid email id or mobile number and enjoy the features and
benefits of Facebook.
To create a Facebook account:
1. Open a browser, type www.facebook.com in the address bar.

Type your first name and last name.

Type a valid email id or mobile number.
Retype the same email id or mobile number.
Type your desired password.
Select your month, day, and year of birth.
Select your gender.
Click Sign Up.
The confirmation page appears.
Note: An activation link and an activation code are sent to the registered email id or
mobile number.
9. Click on the link or type the activation code sent to the registered email id or mobile
number, to activate your account.
Tip: After activating your account, you can login to Facebook with your registered email
id or mobile number.

3 Finding Friends
You can find friends on Facebook by sending and accepting friend requests.

3.1 Sending Friend Request

To send a friend request:
1. Login to your Facebook account.
2. Type name of the friend, to whom you want to send the request, in the search bar.

3. Press Enter.
Users with similar name appears.
4. Identify your friend and click the user you want to add as your friend.
The user home page appears.
Tip: You can identify your friend with the photograph, full name, email id, or the profile
details.
5. Click Add Friend.

6. The friend request is sent to the user. If the user approves your request, you can see the
user in your friends list.

3.2 Accepting Friend Request

To accept a friend request:
1. Click the Friend Request icon at the top of the screen.
2. Click Confirm to confirm the friend request, or click Delete request to decline the friend
request.

4 Checking Notifications
To check the notifications
1. Click the notification icon.

The recent activities of your friends in Facebook are displayed.

5 Updating Status
You can update your status about what you feel right now, and share it with your friends.
To update the status:
1. Click Update Status.

2. Type your status.

3. Select Public to post your status publicly, or select Friends from the drop down menu,
to post your status only to your friends.

6 Sharing Photo or Video

To share photos and video with your friends:
1. Click Add Photos/Video.

The Open dialog box appears.

2. Select the photo or video you want to share, and click Open.
3. Select Public to post your status publicly, or select Friends from the drop down menu,
to post your status only to your friends.
4. Click Post.

7 Responding Friends Post

You can respond to your friends post by providing a like, commenting on the post, or sharing
the post with your friends.
To respond to your friends post:
1. Click the post you want to respond.

2. Click Like to provide a like to the comment,
Or Click Comment, type your comments in the write a comment text box, and press
enter,
Or click Share to share the post.
