Background:

One of the top deemed university/college operating from Bangalore, as a part of

one of the most prestigious group of education institutions requires a full time
Dean of Industry Interface, for its engineering branches, henceforth called DII
for brevity, who would create and execute a strategy to build an effective interface
between the college and industry with an aim to groom its students with necessary
and proper technical and other skills required by the industry. The main objective
would be to ensure that the institutions engineering graduates would be able to
produce immediate value for the hiring organization, thus in turn creating a brand
to reckon with in the field of education with 100% placement record.
Objective /assignment: Placement of such an individual

Main responsibilities
A. College Focus:
1. Interface with relevant industry correlating to the engineering branch being
offered by the college and create an indepth understanding of what is
expected of fresh hires for them to be productive from day one of placement.
2. Work with the relevant college personnel to co create content, facilities,
forums, interfaces with an aim to making each facet of the college
experience relevant to the students, industry and the institution.
3. Work with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum for a degree or
certificate program involving a series of courses
4. Work with students who are studying for a degree or a certificate or
certification or are taking classes to improve their knowledge or career skills
5. Stay informed about changes and innovations in their field internationally
6. Sustain presentations at national and international conferences

7. Participate at college fairs

8. Write proposals or applications in order to receive funding or accreditation
9. Serve on academic and administrative committees that review and
recommend policies, make budget decisions, or advise on hiring and
promotions within their department
B. Industry Focus:
10.Utilize networking skills to build relationship with the relevant companies
doing hiring on regular basis.
11.Visit companies to provide presentations to technical staff and management
on the available skills in the college.
12.Develop forecast of industry at global level, company and their
product/services line and seek their ideas on updating the college curriculum
for win-win.
13.Work diligently with existing industry clients to ensure that their
requirements are taken care in the college syllabi.
14.Drive efforts to convince the industry clients to invest technology resources
in the college, e.g. technology lab / software training for hands-on
experience to the students.
15.Making use of new technology such as distance learning or video
conferencing for absorbing skills available overseas.
16.Create a team that consisting of industry experts in various fields
corresponding to engineering branches offered by the college.
Required skills
1. Excellent industry connections and network ( direct and indirect)
2. Industry exposure of at least 10-20 years preferably in the IT, IT
enabled Services, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation
fields
3. International exposure will be given preference.
4. Understanding of senior level academics will be given preference.
