General Information
We are pleased to announce that a new version of SPI2 Issue 2015A is now available for advance
orders, and should start being despatched week commencing the 11th May. Please read the remainder
of this Bulletin before referring to How to Order TIPSS Software.
Due to increasing data size, SPI2 2015A, is now avalable on new Perkins Branded USB Pen drives.
This is to avoid the necessity of having to install multiple DVDs as well as Cater for the more modern
computer with no built in CD/DVD Drives.
SPI2 Version 2015A replaces SPI2 Version 2012A.
SPI2 2015A also contains a new licensing process and to coincide with this release, changes have
been made to the Online Licensing system which will be made visible to Online Licensing administrators
(only) from the 5th May 2015. These changes will provide SPI2 with higher license security as well as
reduced end user interaction.
SPI2 from version 2015A and above will no longer use the License Codes/License Keys process to
unlock SPI2 Software. This process is being replaced by a more secure and stable system, which uses
online connectivity to authenticate licenses.
Activation IDs are created by your Online Licensing Administrator, which when entered into the new
SPI2 application (the user must have SPI2 open and connected online) the system will activate the
software.
NOTE: Online connectivity is only required during the initial activation process. SPI2 can be used offline
once activated.
NOTE: A manual process is also available for users with No Online connectivity. Refer to Manual
Activation 2015A
This new License process will only be used on SPI2 Issue 2015A and/or later versions.
IMPORTANT: Old license types (2012A and below) will be discontinued June 2015, so please make
sure you upgrade before this date.

How to Install SPI Issue 2015A

IMPORTANT: The user must be given Administrator rights to install software
Existing SPI2 2012A users
Do not uninstall SPI2 2012A until you have installed and activated SPI2 2015A as you will need to
contact your online licensing administrator with your current Serial Number to Migrate your license.

Installation for Active and New Users

1. Insert the new Perkins SPI Issue 2015A USB pen drive into your USB socket. (Microsoft
Windows7TM Windows 8TM)
a. Left Click Start
b. Select Computer
c. Select your USB Drive
d. Locate and Double click on the install(.bat) icon

e. Follow the on-screen prompts.

NOTE: SPI2 will install directly on to your C:\ Drive and creates a folder called
Perkins_SPI2
f. Once Installation is complete, launch the program. The system will prompt you to license
the program, Select Yes.
NOTE: If the program does not launch automatically after install, then double Click on the SPI2
Desktop Icon.

How to License SPI2 2015A

If you are not sure who your Online Licensing Administrator is, then please contact
(ESD_support@perkins.com) who will advise.
New SPI2 Users
Follow the installation process and request a new activation ID from your online licensing administrator.
Existing SPI2 License users

Identify your current License Serial number by launching SPI2 2012A, enter the catalogue, select Help
then Info Concerning

Take note of your Serial number (PF0XXXXX), and send this to your online licensing administrator telling
them that you have install SPI2 2015A.
The administrator will send you back an Activation Id.
NOTE: Your online licensing administrator will use a Migrate function to convert an Active SPI2 2012A
license, across to the new licensing process. Your original License periods will be retained and a new
Serial Number and activation ID will be generated.

Once you have received your Activation ID, launch SPI2 2015A and continue with the following steps

NOTE: To activate your SPI2 license you must be connected online while SPI2 is open. If you do not
have any online connectivity then refer to Manual Activation SPI2

Select Online (License screen 1)

Select Activate (License screen 2)
Enter the Activation ID, User Name and PC Serial Number, if known (if not known then enter
User name again) then select Activate (License screen 3).

SPI2 is now licensed and will show license details, including a new Serial Number, Activation ID and
Expiry date.

The above message will appear when successfully activated, Select OK.
Once SPI2 2015A has been activated, uninstall SPI2 2012A.

Manual Activation SPI 2015A

Request an activation ID from your online licensing administrator and explain that you do not have online
connectivity. They will send you an Activation ID.
Install SPI2 version 2015A.

Enter the activation ID, adding your User Name and PC serial Number (If known), enter user name
again if not known.
Select Save request and save the Request.xml file onto your desktop. Send this File to your online
licensing administrator.

Your Administrator will send you back aResponse.xml File. Save this file to your desktop.

Select Load and activate then locate the Response.xml file from your desktop, then select Open

The above message will appear, Select OK to Activate SPI2.

How to Renew an SPI2 New Types license (Only)

New License types for (SPI2) will now allow you to renew your license 60 Days before Expiry 305 + 60
(365 days).

During the final 60 Days of a license, SPI2 will launch a countdown warning screen which will advise you
that your SPI2 License can be renewed (If required).
Right Click, anywhere in the License information screen and select Copy. Paste the license details into
an email and send to your Online licensing administrator requesting a license Renewal.
Once renewed by your administrator, the next time you launch SPI2 while connected online. SPI2 will
automatically pick up the renewal and extend your license by 365 days plus the remaining days of your
license.

Transferring an SPI2 2015A or above license from an old PC to a new one.

IMPORTANT: If SPI2 cannot be deactivated from the old Computer due to hard drive issues is lost or
stolen, then contact your Online Licensing Administrator to Revoke and Replace the license.

Launch and enter the SPI2 Catalogue, Select Help, then Licensing

Hover your mouse over the License information, Right Click and copy then paste the details into a
reference document. Taking note of the Activation ID.

Select OK and Install SPI2 2015A on the New Computer

Once the License has been deactivated from the old Computer, enter the same Activation ID (as noted
above) for the new install.
This will transfer the original license period from the old computer to the new one.

User Requirements for Updating

NOTE: 2015 updates cannot be downloaded on previous versions, SPI2 2015A must be installed to pick
up all new updates.
One of the most beneficial pieces of SPI functionality is the update manager. The off-line system (USB)
is kept up-to-date via the Internet. Downloads will only be made available for version 2015A only on a
regular basis. These downloads will keep the off-line system up-to-date with the latest build lists, part
numbers, supersessions and Documentation. Every licensed user of SPI must have a CWS ID to
access these updates. A CWS ID is required before a license is granted, so anyone who needs SPI
and does not have a current CWS ID should request one as soon as possible.
Dealers should obtain their own CWS ID via their Distributor. A bulletin detailing how dealers can
request CWS access is provided on (PMB726 SPI Policy).

How to Order TIPSS Software

Due to the increasing data size of SPI2 software, SPI2 2015A is being supplied on new Perkins branded
16 GB USB Pen drives. This change is mainly due to the continuing development of newer slim line
computers that do not have built in CD/DVD Drives, it also avoids supplying you with several DVDs
requiring multiple installations.

Although Individual USB Pen Drives are being supplied Free of Charge, please keep your order to
the minimum amount you need to cover your network installation.
The New Perkins branded USB Pen Drives allows you to install SPI2 2015A software on multiple
computers.
