CHANGE OF PERSONAL DETAILS

Any changes to the details you supplied at enrolment must be given to Administration
immediately. It is important that you keep Flight Training Manawatu advised of any change in
circumstances.
You will need to advise us if you change any of the following details:
Your name
Your address
Your residency/citizenship
If you enroll in an additional course
If you withdraw from a programme or course
FINANCE POLICY

Student course fees are placed into an independent Public Trust account which can only be
used for this purpose. The fees can only be paid directly into that account, and can only be
paid to Flight Training Manawatu after a period greater than seven days from the
commencement of the programme.
REFUND POLICY

Flight Training Manawatu will give a complete refund of fees less 10% or $500.00, whichever
is the lesser within the first seven days after the date of the course commencement. Then
only a 10% refund of fees paid is available if the student discontinues the course within the
first fourteen days of commencement.
Compassionate refunds will be assessed on a case by case basis, any refunds will be carried
out within the time frame as agreed between parties.

IMMIGRATION

Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand
while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration
Service, and can be viewed on their website at http://www.immigration.govt.nz

ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH SERVICES

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New
Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs
of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available
through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at http://www.moh.govt.nz.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE

The accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand
citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all
other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at
http://www.acc.co.nz

MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE

International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel Insurance while
studying in New Zealand.
ACCOMMODATION

Palmerston North with a major university has many options for student accommodation. A tidy
suitable flat sharing with other students is easy to locate close to the city boundary a short 5minute drive to Feilding Aerodrome.
Such accommodation is realistically priced, for an average of $140.00 plus expenses ($50.00
approx.). For this cost safe, clean acceptable accommodation is readily available.
Flight Training Manawatu does not have on campus accommodation options.
Flight Training Manawatu offers accommodation to students at @ The Hub, Palmerston North,
updated information can be access from their website www.atthehub.co.nz.
Accommodation can be temporarily arranged with a longer-term option arranged on arrival.
Any accommodation chosen can be assessed if the applicant requests.

ACCOMMODATION
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS UNDER 18 YEARS

International students under 18 years of age must stay in Homestay accommodation supplied
and monitored by FTM. Homestays will provide a bedroom with a table or desk, chair, mirror,
reading lamp, bed with linen and blankets or duvet, heating system, chest of drawers and/or
wardrobe, 3 meals a day and snacks, including a packed lunch during the school week,
Laundry washing and ironing.
Students in the school Homestay programme must make Homestay payments in advance at
the beginning of each week of their stay. Students must not make their own private Homestay
arrangements without the approval of the C.E.O. Michael Bryant.
Students staying in a Homestay are required to exhibit appropriate behavior. Where students
behavior or demands are such that Homestay hosts cannot reasonably be expected to have
the student continue in their care, they must notify FTM immediately. The Homestay service
may be discontinued and the student may be sent home.
Where the Homestay student wishes to withdraw from the programme, at least two weeks
notice must be given in writing to Michael Bryant. Advice and support for Homestay students
and carers will be provided by the C.E.O. Michael Bryant.

COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS


INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS UNDER 18 YEARS

Flight Training Manawatu welcomes direct communication from parents via phone, email,
letter or visits. A member of staff will answer all communications within 24 hours.
FTM will communicate with parents via phone and email on a regular basis and will maintain
an accurate record of parents contact details. This information will include full details for
contacting parents, guardians and designated caregivers and is kept in the students file in the
safe.
Any emergency situation will be dealt with promptly by FTM and Michael Bryant, C.E.O, will
inform the parents.
All students must have regular contact with parents via phone or by email. FTM will monitor
the frequency of these communications with parents to ensure that it is taking place.

GRIEVANCES

In the event of a grievance between a student and Flight Training Manawatu, which proves
insoluble by the normal disciplinary processes within the institution, the student may, as a final
resort, refer the grievance to:
