JOB TITLE: Program Leader/Sandy Creek Nature Center/Athens, GA

PAY RATE: $29,765 annual entry rate, includes ACC benefits ($14.31/hr)
JOB SUMMARY:
A self-motivated, creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual sought to support and maintain Sandy Creek Nature
Center’s office, reception area, and center programs. Duties include greeting the public, answering the telephone, organizing
and maintaining center financial/program records, assisting volunteers, providing program support and delivery, and additional
tasks as assigned. The individual in this position serves as a frontline contact for all Nature Center clients and must project
a positive customer service image. Detailed job description available upon request.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is interested in nature and enjoys working with visitors in a
225 acre natural setting. We are looking for an individual who is able to promote teamwork and create learning opportunities
in an energetic, fast-paced environment. Must be able to work with diverse personalities, multiple age groups, and
manage multiple priorities. The program leader plays a significant role in all center activities including special events,
public programs, and animal care. Applicants must be comfortable around wild animals including reptiles.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Work hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30am-5:30pm. Some evening hours and Sundays are possible on occasion.
PREFER:
Prefer individual with excellent people skills; experience with bookkeeping and record keeping; knowledge and skill in use
of computers; experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access desirable; ability to take initiative and work independently;
general knowledge of natural science and the environment; previous experience with development/implementation of
education programs for all ages; and ability to maintain productivity in a changing work environment.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS SHOULD POSSESS:
• Ability to communicate effectively with Nature Center visitors, management, supervisors, and other staff
• Knowledge of modern office practices, policies, and procedures;
• Ability to compile, organize, prepare, and maintain an assortment of records, reports, and information in an
effective manner
• An interest in the natural environment and a willingness to assist visitors with nature-related inquiries
• Previous experience with educational programming, program development.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - MUST HAVE:
• High school diploma or equivalent w/three years recreational service experience; or any equivalent
combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
for this position.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license by start date
• Supervisory experience preferred
