Field Visit and Report Submission:

Students will study a major environmental
site Industrial Pollution (Air/Water), Waste
Disposal/ Landfill site, Biodiversity Park,
Butterfly Garden, Wildlife Sanctuary ,
Wetland, Forest, etc. and submit an
Illustrated Word Processed Report in a
specific Format, thus gaining experience on
how to organize and present a scientific
Report on Field Study.

Instructions for Field Study Tour


1. Field Study Tours will be organized in Groups which will be
announced on the Blackboard.
2. Read about the designated place of visit to have prior
knowledge of what to study and to see/expect there.
3. The students should wear field shoes and carry a note book,
pen/pencil, water bottle, snacks and a camera; some snacks
and water bottle will also be provided by the University.
4. Reach 30 minutes before the departure of the Bus at 8.00
AM sharp from SNU for the Field Study Tour and Mark your
attendance in the Sheet; those students who do not join/miss
the field study tour in their designated batches will not be
allowed to join any other Group and will be awarded NO
MARKS for the Field Study Tour.

5. Follow the instructions of the instructors while on tour.


6. While in the field listen carefully to the staff explaining
various activities, themes, etc. and take appropriate notes
and photographs. Collect as much as information possible
from the staff, including brochure, pamphlets, etc. Interact
with the staff to gain additional information about the place.
7. Keep the place of visit clean and do not litter.
8. While boarding the bus for your return trip again sign the
attendance sheet.
9. All the students must return to SNU . They will not be
allowed to get dropped on the way unless they have specific
written permission from the Dean.
10.
Submit the Field Study Tour Report within 15 days of
the visit.

Format for the Field Study Report


(To be submitted within 15 days of the visit)
1. Title Page (Main title of the Field Report, Name, ID, Date of
Visit, Date report submitted (16/14 points Times Roman
Bold)
2. Content with pagination (14 points Times Roman)
3. Introduction: History of the place of visit, Map, background,
facilities, characteristics, staff interacted (12 points Times
Roman)
4. Observations: Headings/Subheadings Bold 12 points Times
Roman; Text 12 points not Bold New Times Roman);
5. Discussion: Lessons learnt and experience gained by the
field visit; may also include any recommendations for future
tours, if any (Text 12 points not Bold; New Times Roman)
6. References: Numbered full citation, website, etc. (Text 10
points not Bold; New Times Roman)
7. Acknowledgements

Give illustrations at appropriate places- photographs


with captions, graphs, histograms in colour/B/W
mention the credit- whether yours or somebody else's
illustration and source
