BE THE GOOD ONE

LET EMPATHY LEAD TO EQUALITY.

CAUSE
Gender equality
THE MISSION
We are all created equal. But gender discrimination is still a global problem today. It affects all aspects of our lives
social, economic, political.
Regulations alone wont solve gender inequality. What we need is a change in culture that is each one of us towards a better understanding of the other. What does it mean to be a woman, a man or of any other gender today?
What are the wishes, challenges, fears and dreams?
Only by understanding one anothers differences, we will be able to find a path forward. Let empathy lead to equality.
UNDERLYING MOTIVATION
You, as the young ones, are living in the age in which this long standing human dream of equality will hopefully come
true at last. You, as a young woman, man or a person of any other gender can draw from your personal insights on
the topic one way or another. You, as a young creative, have the magic power to influence culture, affect people
and change society.
Put it to work.
THE TASK
Come up with an idea to address gender inequality or identity in ________.
You must fill in the blank to anchor your creative solution to a specific environment. A few areas to consider: schools,
government representation, sports, workplaces, the internet. But feel free to use something specific that is relevant
to your world, and your experience.
If you dont agree with a common opinion: Challenge it. There is no wrong. But be constructive. Dont just denounce
discrimination, but lead people to an understanding of the other, or even their own gender and effectively change
mindsets.
Ideas will be judged based upon strategic approach, creative solution and potential effectiveness in the chosen
environment.
MEDIA ASSIGNMENTS
The approach is completely up to you:
Challenge gender stereotypes and prejudices and teach people about alternatives. Create positive representations
of femininity, masculinity or other genders that people can learn from.
Or even better, develop something we couldnt think of and convince us.
Do it anywhere:
Your area, any other place, or across the whole world.
Do it with anything:
Print, Video, Digital or something completely new.
Do it for anything:
Highlight a fictional brand, an ephemeral idea, or a real-life corporation, cause or fledgling non-profit or something
entirely different.
No restrictions. But be sure to keep in mind the audience for your communication. Your objective is to emotionally
connect with and move consumers, but then also the judging panel (of top international creatives) and the broader
professional advertising world that anticipates these entries especially the winners.

PACKAGING
The One Club works to reuse and recycle all packing materials but that is not always possible with some of the materials we receive.
Reusable foam core, bubble wrap and packing peanuts are posted through online classifieds and are picked often up
by local artists, advertising students and movers. Despite this, the One Show is left with a considerable amount of
waste.
It is important to show restraint when packing your entries, not just for our sake, but also for the Earths.
Please consider the following when preparing your entries for shipment:
The most effective way to package your print entries is to lay a bunch of them flat in between two pieces of thick
foam core. Securely tape the foam core on all sides. Then wrap and tape your package securely in brown shipping
paper. Dont forget to include your itemized list and payment forms inside your package.
DO NOT ship any tapes, CDs or DVDs with your entries. They will not be used. Instead, make use of The One Clubs
Digital Upload Center to save on the cost of tapes and shipping.
There is no need to individually package each entry. Although we appreciate meticulously packaged entries, do not
go overboard and individually wrap each piece. Separating pieces by media is fine, but there is no need to package
each print in its own envelope.
Be conscious of excessive bubble wrap. It is not necessary to put your entries into an envelope and then wrap that
envelope in bubble wrap. More often than not, the entries with the most bubble wrap still arrive bent, please keep
that in mind.
Remember that it is necessary to send the correct amount of pieces. If the same print or integrated piece is in two
categories, you must send two separate prints. The One Club staff will not move entries from a category to fill incomplete campaigns.
JUDGING
Judging for the 2016 One Show Young Ones Competition will happen in two rounds during the first week in April.
Finalists for the Young Ones Competition will be announced mid-April. The primary contact for the finalist entry will
be notified by email.
THE JUDGING PROCESS
A group of top creative professionals will select the winning submissions of the One Show Young Ones Competition.
All work is judged in anonymity.
JUDGING CRITERIA
The judges are looking to reward work that is smart and compelling. Within the context of the competition briefs, they
are asked to look at the range of submitted entries side-by-side to determine what rises to the top.
