ContraCline
Contracl ne is a patented optical system
which s unsurpassed n effect ve y co lecting
and d str buting light. The systenr produces
extremely high leve s of ilunrination, yet ts
sharp cutoff ellminates disabling glare.
The Contrac ine larnily of contemporary and
period pieces has been expanded to inc ude

the new Savannah Lantern.

Lantern is a patented arrangement of stacked

reflecting surlaces that controls vidually all of

the lamp lumens. This unique system provides:

Superior Glare Control

Even, Luminous Appearance

lmproved Visibility
Higher Light Levels
The high coefficient of utilization of the Contra
Cline optical system in combination with high
lurnen HID lamps (up to 400W) provides higher

Sharp cutoll at normal

viewing angles lor
greatly reduced glare

light levels than uncontrolled systems. Thls increased iliurnination results in improved visibility
as well as an increased sense of safety and security.

Uniform Distribution
The Contracline is designed to distribute light
into highly uniforrn patterns. This not only makes
the slte appear better lit, but elimjnates the dark
areas between posts and at site perimeters.

Superior Glare Control

The reflector elements of the Contracline are
precisely positioned to sharply cut off light from
the arc tube or reflected images above 75".
This design significantly reduces high angle
brightness, improving visibility and creating a
more comfortable visual environment. In addition, the Contraoline system allows control of
light trespass oeyond the property line.

Optimized candlepower

spacing and efliciency

o
Even, Luminous Appearance
The daytime form of the Washington Globe and

Savannah Lantern is reminiscent of ornamental

turn-of-the-century gas and incandescent
street lighting fixtures. Similarly, the even,
comfortable glow produced by the Contracline
at nlght evokes images of those early lighting
standards.

Life Cycle Economies

The wide luminaire spacings provided by the

Contracline optical system can significantly

lower installation costs. Fewer fixtures result
in less energy and maintenance costs over the
life of the project. Also, the remarkable control

provided by the ContraCline optical system

may allow use of reduced wattage lamps.
