Building a vibrant

metropolitan Papakura
Connecting Papakura Station to the town centre
along Railway Street West and Averill Street.
Papakura has been called a metropolitan
centre in the Auckland Plan. It is planned
to develop as a larger and more important
centre, to help support the major population
and housing growth for south Auckland.
Engaging with the local community has
been an important part of developing
Papakura as a metropolitan centre.
Community feedback shows a need for a safer and
more accessible connection from the train station
to the town centre.
The Papakura Local Board is utilising its Local
Board Transport Capital Fund towards improving
this important connection.

Papakura Local Board project to improve

connections to town centre
The Papakura Local Board and Auckland Transport
are partnering to provide a modern and fully
covered walkway from Papakura Station to the
town centre. This 250-metre path, along Railway
Street West and Averill Street (running to the
mid-block pedestrian crossing) will provide
continuous shelter as people walk to the Papakura
Library & Museum, the Papakura Art Gallery, the
train station and businesses in the town centre.
