Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems.

EURO-DIESEL
EURO-DIESEL is a global specialist in

Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and generator sets,

founded in the mid nineteen-eighties,
and located in the heart of Europe in
Lige, Belgium.
EURO-DIESEL and CUBIC have been

partners through many years and have

a history that dates nearly 20 years
back. CUBIC supplies the modular
enclosures for the switchboards applied as a part of the various types of
UPS systems.
New testing facilities
To remain in the position as a global
specialist in the supply of UPS systems, EURO-DIESEL has recently inaugurated a state of the art production
and testing facility. With the new facility,
EURO-DIESEL now holds the worlds
largest UPS facility with a surface area
of around 6300 m.
The inauguration of the worlds largest
UPS facility took place in conjunction
with the companys 20th anniversary.

The new facility does not only include

production area but also an impressive R&D and testing area with bays
equipped with high-end testing and
measurement equipment to demonstrate the consistent performance of
the NO-BREAK KS systems.
The UPS system
An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
system is a unit that provides power to
a load when the input power source,
typically the utility mains, fails. An UPS
differs from an auxiliary/emergency
power system or standby generator
by providing instantaneous or near-

instantaneous protection from input

power interruptions by means of one
or more attached units.
Around the world, one will today find
many different systems and alternative UPS technologies to solve the
problems linked with continuity of
power supply. At EURO-DIESEL, the
technology of dynamic UPS systems
is applied.
EURO-DIESEL has taken an innovative

and advanced Dynamic Uninterruptible

Power Supply system (D-UPS) to the
market named the NO-BREAK KS.
The ingenious design of this unique
product has resulted in a rapid growth
of the business and today EURO-DIESEL employs over 80 engineers and
technicians in Belgium, keeping them
in the lead of the D-UPS technology.

The no-break systems
EURO-DIESELs NO-BREAK KS Dynamic UPS systems provide the user with
multiple benefits:

No power electronics: The sine

wave is generated by a synchronous
machine
No need for battery banks requiring
separate rooms
High short circuit current capability
Reduced voltage distortion in case
of short circuit
No harmonics generation
No transfer of mains harmonics to
the secured load, neither of harmo-
nics generated by the load to the mains
Intrinsic reliability due to simple
design with lowest component count
Compact physical size small foot
print
Largest single module available -
3000 kVA
Unlimited paralleling possibilities
No air conditioning requirement:
Ventilation only

The highlight of EURO-DIESELs product

range is the NO-BREAK KS at 3000
kVA being the worlds first UPS of such
a capacity. The NO-BREAK KS has
been the trademark and core business
of the company since the 1980s, with
the first system, the NO-BREAK KS1
developed at 330 kVA.
The new 3000 kVA is designed for
operation within regions around the
world operating at 60 Hz in standalone and parallel redundant configurations, whilst a 2500 kVA version is
also available for 50 HZ applications.
With the introduction of the new
3000kVA NO-BREAK KS, EURO-DIESEL has taken the lead in the UPS
industry by offering the most compre-

hensive range of power ratings and

output configurations.
The system also provides tailored and
engineered solutions for the demands
of the data centre industry and mission
critical applications requiring multi
MVA of secure and uncompromised
power.
These various types of the system
can also be configured as Dual Output Systems, the NO-BREAK KS-SB,
where the division between critical and
essential loads can be customised,
up to its total maximum output power
capacity.
Considering the high power ratings of
these modules, many of the project
applications will typically be at medium
voltage but the system is also available
in low voltage versions.
EURO-DIESEL product application
The NO-BREAK KS product range has

High tech applications and sciences

particle accelerators, weather
forecast centres, research centres.
Road and rail
protection of tunnels, railways
signalling.

CUBIC switchboards
From the very beginning, EURO-DIESEL has been a good and loyal CUBIC
customer and partner. We at CUBIC
Belgium and the engineers from
EURO-DIESEL have always worked
together to find the best solutions for
their NO-BREAK KS panels.
The most of the panels are Form 4a or
4b , the main busbar from 2000A to
4000A , 50-80-100kA.
The new panel for the test facilities was
one of the most complex panels that
we have made together. It was thanks
to our good collaboration and a lot of
working hours that we succeeded.

during the years been used as back

up system in many different projects.
A selection of these is:

Sensitive production units

semiconductors, textile, aluminium,
pharmaceutical industry, plastics.
Bank and Finance
protection of data centres, stock
exchange.
Airports
