Lyle Breiner would be an outstanding team member for any organization. He

demonstrates leadership, integrity and creativity. During the time I worked with Lyle, he
effectively led and implemented a LEAN Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma deployment
at a major semi-conductor manufacturing company resulting in $10 million in savings.
In addition to leading the deployment, he coached and mentored Green Belts and Black
Belts, completed four Design for Six Sigma Projects and led a LEAN Six Sigma project.

DIRECTOR MANAGER, PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

PROCESS ANALYSIS & IMPROVEMENTLEAN SIX SIGMAINCREASE EFFICIENCIES & REDUCE COSTS
Possesses proven ability to establish and nurture relationships which positively affect
profits through achievements in problem identification and resolution skills. Strong
qualifications in team leadership, mentoring, and has in-depth experience
developing and implementing processes contributing significantly to bottom-line
efficiency and profitability.
Manage & Lead Teams
I was asked to manage a group of over 50 Engineers and Technicians, all of whom had reported
directly to the previous manager. I put a structure in place that gave me five direct reports and
divided the rest of the department into small groups reporting to these Leads and Supervisors. As a
result, each individual employee had access to their group leader even on night shift, which
significantly improved communication and operational efficiency.
Train & Mentor Staff
Shift Leads were struggling with the correct use of Statistical Process Control to monitor critical
processes. I set up weekly meetings with each of the Leads to review problem control charts and
teach the concepts of SPC. I then had the Leads develop their own approach to solving problems.
The outcome was that the Leads were able to immediately address issues on their shift, which in the
past would have waited for someone on first shift.
Creative Problem Solving
Risk is always present when developing a process or product. One cannot always eliminate risk, but it
has to be managed. Risk is most generally evaluated with regards to quality, cost and schedule. I
have conducted innumerable risk assessments for new processes, new equipment and products. My
risk assessments also include a response plan for each risk so the staff on shift will know exactly what
to do if something goes wrong.
Project Management
I was the Deployment Champion for LEAN Six Sigma in Process R&D. I developed a charter for the
deployment effort and a timeline for implementation. Training dates, designated individuals and
training facilities were all included in the plan. My project yielded over 50 individuals trained as Green
Belts, 16 Black Belts, 40 trained in LEAN and four individuals in Design for Six Sigma Black Belt.
Develop & Implement
The introduction of next generation parts and products can require advanced processes. I led a
team to develop the next generation dielectric material for use in a DRAM using a process on current
equipment which only required a small upgrade. This upgrade cost about $80,000 compared to over
$5,000,000 for a new piece of equipment. Spread over the 20 new systems that would have been
required, this saved the company more than $98,000,000.
Complex Data Analysis
The use of Statistical Process Control requires knowledge of control charts. Many groups were trying to
use specification limits instead of control limits, reducing the power of the chart because signals
cannot be differentiated from changes or random noise. I developed a course covering selection of
the type of chart, how to calculate control limits and how to interpret control charts and identify shifts
as well as out of control data

TESTIMONIALS
I had the opportunity to work very closely with Lyle over a three year period. During that time,
I got to know him very well and exactly what he brings to the table for any employer. Lyle is an
extremely well-rounded professional.
His career has afforded him the privilege of working at multiple levels, from entry level
engineer to upper level department head and manager. This wide range of roles has armed
him with a very unique and informed perspective of business operations in relation to technical
challenges.
Lyle is not afraid to embrace an unpopular decision when the information at hand warrants it.
He also brings a true sense of realism into his decision making process, and demands the
same from those working around or for him. I would, without hesitation, recommend Lyle to
any potential employer.
Peter A. Benson,
Start-Up Engineer URS
I enjoyed working with Lyle for over 10 years. He was instrumental in getting the researchers at
Micron to use statistical methods such as design of experiments (DOE) to improve the
efficiency of their experiments. I remember one of my first presentations of a DOE that I ran at
a meeting and noting the Lyle was one of the few engineers to truly grasp the significance of
the work.
Lyle is very approachable, thoughtful and energetic, and I often used him as an unofficial mentor
during my career. He would be an asset to any organization he joined.
