Programs/Tools:

Scanner

Objective:

The objective for this project was to learn how to design a

full paged ad for an event using only Microsoft Word. We also
needed to learn how to scan images.

Process:

I started by scanning the image of the bird. I placed it in the lower third
and then placed my text in the upper third. I made them correlating colors to
give it balance through color and position. I found a clip art outline of Idaho
and put it in the background to give the image of the bird depth. Both critique
sessions I held suggested I add more color, so I placed a text box in the back of the
image and filled it with yellow, and I filled the clip art Idaho image with a light shade
of blue that I sourced from the bird image.

Objective:

The main objective of this project was to learn how to blend

images in Photoshop by using masks.

Process:

I started by creating an 11 by 8.5 landscape workspace and posting

the background image of the park bench. I applied a Gaussian blur
to give it a depth of field. Next I placed the foreground image of Robin
Williams and used a mask to blend him in with the background. I color
corrected the two images to make them appear as though they were the same
image. Then I posted the quote from the move, Good Will Hunting, and used a
font similar to the one used on the movies poster and cover.

Objective:

The main objectives of this project were to learn the basics of

digital photograghy and how to use layers in Photoshop.

Process:

I started by creating an 11 by 8.5 landcape project. I then placed my

photo and resized it to fit the page. I decided to use a violet monochromatic
color scheme, since the most notable color in the photograph was violet. I then
created a violet rectangle layer and placed it above my background image. I also
created a white rectangle layer and lowered the opacity and placed it beneath my
first rectangle. I then created a text box and inseted my quote, which matched the
image, because it was about the importance of working hard.

Objective:

The main objective of this project was to learn the basics

of Adobe Illustrator and logo design.

Process:

I started by creating three original logos in Adobe Indesign. I held a

poll amongst my friends and family to decide which to use, and they
chose my camera sillouette logo. I created this logo by making basic
camera shapes in Indesign and placing the initials of the company in the
negative space. The next step was to create three different color schemes for
the logo. My original logo was monochromatic. I decided to make two more.
For one of them I chose to use Triadic (Red, Yellow, Blue), and the other was
Complimentary (Blue and Orange).

Programs/Tools:

Objective:

The main objective of this project was to learn the basics of

HTML and CSS and website design.

Process:

I made this web page entirely with Notepad++. I wrote the HTML
from scratch, but based it on our first assignment. I downloaded
the Demo CSS document and made some changes to it. This included
changing the header fonts to Cabin and general sans-serif and changing the
background from light blue to maroon. I also changed the H1 background to
white to provide better Gestalt.

Objective:

The main objectives of this project were to learn the

basics of Indesign and how to create a proper project folder.

Process:

The first step I took for this project was to sketch. I then showed my
roommates my various designs and they helped me choose this design.
I then went about producing it in Indesign. I liked the overlapping boxes,
because it gave the design depth. I repeated the different shades in similar
patterns throughout my design to give it repetition and asymmetry. I made
sure to arrange the boxes in a way that it gave my image a visual flow from
top left to bottom right. I was also careful to give my fonts different sizes and
thicknesses, so that it would create more visual flow and establish visual precedent.

Objective:

The main objectives of this project were to learn how to

trim quality images, further our skill at making logos, and to
learn how to incorporate folds into a design.

Process:

I started by creating a new logo in Indesign. I like some of the logos

on pinterest that were contained in a light blue circle and made the font
in negative space, so I used that and made it look like a scoreboard. Then
I created a two pages, three panels per page project in Indesign and began
making my panels. I trimmed four different images on panels 1, 3, and 5. I also
used masks to blend images into their backgrounds on panels 2 and 4. I made
paragraph styles for the headers and the body copy and applied them to all of my text.
I also wrapped my text around images on panels 2 and 3.

Programs/Tools:

Adobe Indesign

Objective:

The main objectives of this project were to learn the

basics of creating business cards, including watermarks and
typography, and to further our skills with the Adobe Suite.

Process:

Since the logo I created was already in the shape of a business card, I
decided to use that to my advantage and trim down the edges so that only
the negative space circle of the camera shutter were left. I then used left
aligned font in the same color as the negative space to give the information for
the business card. Since the logo in the camera shutter was a sans-serif, I decided
to make the body font an oldstyle to compliment it. On the back of the business card
I repeated the entire logo so that it would reveal what had changed on the front.

Objective:

The main objectives of this project were to learn the basics

of creating stationary, including watermarks and typography,
and to further our skills with the Adobe Suite.

Process:

I started creating my stationary by looking up designs on pinterest. I

noticed that some of my favorite designs had small repeating shapes, so I
decided to do that and connect my left aligned text to my logo. I used small
circles since my logo was very round and had a circle in the middle, which
acted as the camera shutter. I also included a watermark in the bottom right of my
page, which was the logo. I watched the provided tutorial to learn how to do this. It
helped give my design visual flow and balance.
