Web Page

Description

A web page designed to show my own created logo.

Joel Judkins

Objective

-Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page.

-Write content to describe the process of creating my logo and
how it appeals to a target audience.
-Acquire a working knowledge of HTML.
-Acquire a working knowledge of CSS.
-Identify hex colors to match logo, using Photoshop color picker.

Process

I designed the logo previously using Photoshop and InDesign.

This was the first time I worked with HTML and CSS. I learned
how to put an image in the background working with CSS. I used
Photoshop to enhance coloring in the web page. I also cropped
the image in Photoshop so the focus would be on the people
with a certain amount of complementing sunset. In the CSS, I
changed the font style and sizing. Margins and padding were also
changed to make the body more center aligned.

Objective

Front

Back

-Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.

-Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.
-Learn how to wrap text around an image.
-Use paragraph styles in InDesign.

Process

I used Photoshop to edit the pictures for the brochure. InDesign

was used to put everything together. I arranged things so that the
strings would be in the back and the picks would be bound by
a maroon stroke. I used TextWrap to put the words around the
images. The front is designed to be shorter than the back because
the guitar picks on the inside stick out. The black edge outside
the picks is meant to be trimmed off. The gray edge on the back

Objective

-Learn to manage Photoshop layers.

-Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks.
-Apply appropriate typography.
-Use filters.

Process

I brought both of these images from online and blended them

in together on Photoshop. I used drop shadows to highlight the
words. The words are from the LDS hymn Be Still My Soul.
I saturated the images to show the contrast. There is alignment
that brings the message from Friend in the light, down to
Christ in the image.

Objective

-Learn basic photography skills.

-Use a digital camera to take a quality image and download it.
-Size and crop the image.
-Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation levels.
-Use a selection tool to isolate a portion of the image.
-Desaturate the selected portion of the image.
-Use a filter or colorize a portion of the image.

Process

I captured an image and used Adobe Photoshop to enhance the

hues and saturations. I aligned the words according to the sky
in the top right. The words in the bottom half of the photo also
align with the building, the tree, and other words. Under the
words in the sky, the sun is left as a focus point behind the tree,
supporting the red light behind them. They are also left in bold
to not disappear in the light.

Objective

-Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.

-Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.
-Create a project with image, logo, and InDesign document to
keep links intact.

Process

I first made various sketches to come to a final design. I then

drafted a final version in Adobe InDesign. The black circles make
a great contrast as well as an alignment for the flow. The words
also lead the viewer down an aligned path. The top black circle
and the people both run off the edge for an asymmetrical
pattern. I bolded key words in the text to stand out to the viewer.
I was given the image, logo, and content for this flier.

for the words. Adobe Illustrator was able to allow me to test out
different styles of logos and see which details would be best in it.
I changed the background colors and font colors according to
different possibilities.

GRAND
OPENING

I scanned this image and uploaded it to Microsoft Word. I

complemented the colors with the orange. The round edges
attract the family eye more. I chose this image because of the
vertical repetition of the foods.
