This competition is a unique event, providing an opportunity to welcome to our city


the most eminent international musicians. It is a bonus for Lyons, and it will enable
our city to enhance its aura on the international scene.

RULES: General Terms and Conditions


The twelfth international chamber music competition of Lyon (CIMCL) is for duo cello and piano.
It is open to artists of all nationalities born after 1983, April 18th.
The competition will award 3 prizes (1st, 2nd and 3rd), as well as a few special prizes.
The competition will take place in Lyon, France, from 2016 April, Tuesday 19th to Sunday 24th.

The composition of the jury may change if one of the members is unable to participate.

APPLICATIONS
Closing date for applications postponed to 2016, January 15th
Candidates must send by e-mail a complete application file with the following documents:
Duly completed application form, specifying the works selected
Short curriculum vitae of the duo as well as of each musician, in French or English
A recent photograph of the duo (black and white, 300 dpi, size min. 10 cm x 15 cm)
Copy (100 dpi, jpg or pdf file) of identity card or passport of each musician
Application fee of 150 (non-refundable if the duo withdraws from the competition, or if
the duo is not pre-selected)
A video recording of given work for pre-selection, DVD ou video file
The application fee must be paid by international money order, payable to the CIMCL.

Any change and bank costs will be charged to candidates. Please, indicate the duo name when
you make the bank transfer for easier identification.

ADMISSION
Only completed dossiers will be accepted. The organizers of the competition will pre-select
candidates.
Candidates have to send an un-cut live video recording from :

By internet link : Dropbox, We Transfer, etc.
Artists have to be recorded with an immobile camera. Video will be clearly identifiable : artists
names, date and place of recording.
Candidates will be informed by e-mail of their admittance by 2016, February 8th.
Application fees will be refunded if candidates are not admitted to the competition.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION


Candidates will pay their own travel and accommodation costs. A list of hotels will be
communicated when enrolment is confirmed.

REGISTRATION
Contestants must register and present ID at the competition secretariat on 2016, April, Monday
18th, between 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lots will be drawn at 4:00 p.m. to determine order of play.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsal rooms will be available to candidates from April, Monday 18th from 2:00 p.m. and
throughout the period of the competition. The competition organisers will provide a schedule to
ensure equal use of rehearsal rooms.

COMPETITION PROCEDURE
Candidates will be advised of the place of the competition, when we will confirm participation.
All rounds will be open to the public. All candidates, with no exception, must take part in the
qualifying round. The jury reserves the right to interrupt the contestants performance or to select
some movements from the pieces chosen. The order of the selected pieces is left to the discretion
of the candidates.
Karol Beffa score, given in semi-final round, will be available from 2016 February and candidates
have to purchase it by themselves. If needed, scores can be ordered on www.acappella.eu (contact@acappella.eu).
Musical rounds could be recorded (audio and video) in order to be broadcasted (live or not) on
Universit Lumire Lyon 2, NoMadMusic, France Musique website.

PRIZES/AWARDS
24.000 amount will be offered to the laureates.
First prize awarded by City of Lyon 8.000 euros / 2nd prize: 6.000 euros / 3rd prize: 4.000 euros

This awards list may be modified by the organisers before the beginning of the competition. The
prizes/awards will be attributed by the jury, except for the Public Award which will be attributed by
the public through individual ballot during the finals and the Websurfers award which will be
attributed by websurfers.
Candidates will be informed of the details of those different awards with their admittance.
The prizes/awards must be shared equally between the members of the duo.
Several professional engagements may be proposed to the winners. In particular the winners
agree to honour those engagements. Dates will be given with the admittance.

AWARDS CEREMONY AND CONCERT


The awards ceremony will take place in Sunday 24th April 2016 at 4:00 pm in Lyons Opera Concert
Hall. Award winners must be present to receive their prizes and must play freely an excerpt from
their competition program, as approved by the organisers of the concert.
The concert will be probably broadscasted by France Musique on May 2016 (Galle Le Gallic
program).
In addition, the winners agree to offer a recital to CIMCL during the year following the competition.
Daily, hotel and travel expenses will be supported by CIMCL.

DELIBERATIONS
The jury will be made up of 7 or more personalities from the music world, selected by the
competition management. The president of the jury will be nominated by the competition
management or elected by the members of the jury. The jury will deliberate at the end of each
round. The jury reserves the right not to award all of the prizes. The decisions of the jury are final.

RECORDINGS AND BROADCASTS


Competition organisers reserve the right to record all or part of the competition using photographic
or video technology, for advertising, archives, television, internet or radio broadcasting in
accordance with the rights of French musicians (article L 212-3, Intellectual Property Code).

OBLIGATIONS
Registration for the competition implies that candidates agree to and accept all of the articles of
these rules.
The French version of these rules takes precedence.
Disputes will be settled by the authorities in Lyons.
