DIKTI-FUNDED FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

The Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) in cooperation with the


American-Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) offers the DIKTI-funded
Fulbright Higher Education Grants only to permanent faculty members of state
and private universities who have the NIDN to pursue graduate study at U.S.
universities in any fields of study with the exception of medical sciences.
DIKTI-funded Fulbright Masters Degree Program
The grant is to pursue a Masters degree in all fields of study in the U.S. for 1-2
years.
Applicants have:
completed a Bachelors degree program (S1).
a minimum GPA of 3.00 (4.00 scale).
a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS equivalent.
Deadline: April 15, 2015
DIKTI-funded Fulbright Ph.D Program
The grant is to pursue a Doctoral degree in all fields of study in the U.S. for 3 years.
Applicants have:

completed a Masters degree program (S2).

a minimum GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale).

a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 575 or IELTS equivalent.

DIKTI-funded Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Research Program
This grant is for doctoral (S3) candidates to conduct research in the U.S. for 3-4
months.
Applicants:
are currently enrolled at an Indonesian university.
are in the final stages of writing their dissertation.
have a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 525 or IELTS equivalent.
Deadline: April 15, 2015
DIKTI-funded Fulbright Senior Research Program
This grant is for scholars who have a doctoral degree and intend to do a 3-4-month
research project in the U.S.

AMERICAN INDONESIAN EXCHANGE FOUNDATION (AMINEF)


The American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF), established in 1992, is
a bi-national, non-profit foundation that administers the Fulbright and other special
initiative programs in Indonesia. AMINEF annually awards more than 250 scholarships
to Americans and Indonesians to study, teach, or conduct original research in a
variety of disciplines (with the exception of medical sciences related to patient care or
medical training). Grants are competitive and the awards generally cover tuition and
fees, textbook allowance, monthly living allowance, international airfare, and health
insurance. The primary focus of the Fulbright Program in Indonesia is to promote
mutual understanding between the people of Indonesia and the United States through
educational exchange and academic scholarship. Please consult the AMINEF website

General Description
AMINEF annually offers Fulbright scholarships for Indonesians to study and to conduct
research in the United States. Fulbright scholarships are available to Indonesian citizens

Applicant is an Indonesian citizen and does not have dual citizenship.

Fulbright program.
Applicants is not an employee of AMINEF or the U.S. Embassy or the U.S.
Department of State or a close family member or dependent of such an employee.
Applicant is currently not enrolled at an education institution or pursuing another

Applicant is not receiving another scholarship at the time of application or at the
same time as the AMINEF scholarship.

Important Required Testing Information


At the time of application, only an Institutional Testing Program (ITP) TOEFL or IELTS
score is required. If selected for the scholarship, Masters and Ph.D candidates must take
the official iBT TOEFL test, the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for all fields except
Law and Business, or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) for business
administration, finance and accounting.

Fulbright Masters Degree Program
The grant is to pursue a Masters degree in social sciences or humanities in the U.S. for

The grant is to pursue a Masters degree in science and technology in the U.S. for 1-2

Fulbright Senior Research Program
This grant is for scholars who have a doctoral degree and intend to carry out research for
3-6 months in the U.S. Although a TOEFL score is not required, the scholars should be
able to demonstrate sufficient English-language proficiency to conduct research in the
U.S.

OTHER FULBRIGHT PROGRAM


Fulbright Foreign Language (Indonesian) Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program
This grant is for English language teachers to teach Indonesian language for one
academic year (9 months) in the U.S. Participants will teach up to 20 hours per week and
enroll in at least two American Studies and TESL methodology classes per semester.
Applicants:
are not older than 29 years of age by October 1, 2015.
have completed a Bachelors degree program (S1).
have a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS equivalent.

The U.S. Department of State through AMINEF annually offers fellowships for
Indonesians to participate in a professional development or exchange program in the
United States. The fellowships are available to Indonesian citizens with the appropriate
qualifications as stipulated in the program descriptions listed below:
Administrative Requirement:

Copy of your most recent, less than two-year-old ITP TOEFL/IELTS score report.

Two letters of reference from your current employer.

These non-degree programs provide opportunities to study at U.S.


higher education institutions. The grants are designed to improve
skills and provide professional or educational development. Credits
taken under these fellowships or grants are not intended to lead
to a degree, although some grantees may obtain certificates upon
completion.

Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program for Mid-Career Professionals


This fellowship is for Indonesian mid-career professionals in public service to participate
in non-degree programs that combine academic coursework at the graduate level with
professional development activities in the U.S. for one academic year (9 months).
Applicants:
administrators in a leadership position.
a minimum of five years of work experience in the public or non-profit private sectors,
including non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
completed Bachelors (S1) degree.
a minimum GPA of 2.75 (4.00 scale).

a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 525 or IELTS equivalent.

International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP)


This program is for secondary school teachers to develop skills at a U.S.
university for one semester through coursework and intensive training in teaching
methodologies, curriculum development, teaching strategies, educational leadership,
and tools for teaching.
Applicants:

secondary-level, full-time teachers.

5 or more years of classroom experience.
Teaching disciplines include: English as a Foreign Language; Social Studies; Civics;
Mathematics; or Science.

a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 500 or IELTS equivalent.

Community College Initiative Program
This program is for young professionals to develop professional skills at a U.S.
community college for one year.
Eligible fields are Business Management and Administration; Tourism and Hospitality
Management, Media, Information Technology, Early Childhood Education, Public Safety
and Engineering Sciences.
Applicants:

completed a minimum of secondary school education (SMU or equivalent).

are currently working in the field in which they are applying or

are running a small business.

a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 450 or IELTS equivalent.
Deadline: November 1, 2015
Note: Preference will be given to applicants with high school diploma. Applicants with
D1, D2 or D3 degrees may apply. Applicants with a Bachelors degree (S1) are eligible
if they are applying in a field different from the field of their degree and have relevant
work experience in the field for which they are applying. Applicants with MA or Ph.D
degrees are not eligible to apply.
Global Undergraduate Exchange Program
This program is for undergraduate students to study for one semester in a U.S.
university. Participants will also be involved in up to twenty (20) hours of community
service.
Applicants:

are enrolled in S1 degree program at an Indonesian higher education institution.
completed their first semester or are entering their 5th semester by November 1,
2015 (students of 6th semester and above are not eligible).

a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 500 or IELTS equivalent.

Senior Scholar Lecturer Program


Grants are provided to American scholars to lecture at Indonesian universities for one
academic term. In addition, lecturers normally participate in other campus activities
including thesis advising, assistance with curriculum development, and establishment of
educational linkages between American lecturers and the host institution. Special visa
and teaching permit are required.
Senior Scholar Researcher Program
American researchers, individually sponsored by Indonesian institutions, engage in
formal academic research on approved topics. Researchers may also be asked to
present occasional lectures and seminars on topics of interest to the Indonesian host
institution. A special visa and research permit are required.
Student Researcher Program
Grants are given for research on approved projects which are usually integral (but not
limited) to work toward a masters or doctoral degree. Students must be sponsored by an
Indonesian host institution. A special visa and research permit are required.
Senior Specialist Program
Grants are designed to provide short-term academic opportunities (two to six weeks)
for U.S. faculty and professionals to visit Indonesia for the purposes of collaboration,
lecturing, conducting workshops, curriculum development, institutional planning, all
depending on the host institutions interests and needs. Indonesian institutions interested
in hosting a Senior Specialist must complete a request form specifying why they need
a specialist, and return it to AMINEF. Request forms (applications) are available at our
website. Short visit visa is required.
Fulbright-Hays Pre-doctoral Student and Post-doctoral Faculty Program
Student and faculty researchers are sponsored by local Indonesian host institutions
to conduct formal research on approved topics. Grants are administered jointly by the
grantees university or home institution and the U.S. Department of Education. AMINEF
provides logistical assistance to grantees while they are in-country. A special visa and
research permit are required.
English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) Program
English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) grants are provided to Americans holding recent
Bachelors or Masters degrees to assist local high school English teachers in Indonesia.
A special visa and permit are required. Indonesian secondary schools are encouraged to
apply to host an ETA at their schools through the P2TK Directorate, Directorate General
of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education and Culture (021) 57974107.
