Transportation:
Articulated Lorries are generally used for delivery and it is
normally the responsibility of the recipient to arrange the
provision of suitable equipment for off-loading. A crane with
slings and spreader bar or a forklift truck will usually be required.
Composite panels sheet may be delivered by curtain sided
vehicles to afford optimum protection. Forklift trucks should be
used for off-loading.
Each day prior to commencement of work lift plan would be
prepared by safety personnel and shall be exercise during
similar activity at site.
2.4.2
Handling:
Compared with panels manufactured from other material,
cladding composed of aluminum with rigid polyurethane foam
core is lightweight having density of about 35kg/m3, enabling
long sheets to be handled with ease and with a minimum of
operatives.
If a crane is used for unloading, at least two slings should be
used single sling should NEVER be used.
Unprotected chains, bars or fork trucks will damage the sheet,
particularly at the edges, and should be avoided. Always ensure
that packs of sheet are securely banded before lifting.
When handling individual sheets, care should be taken not to
damage edges or corners, as they may interfere with sheet
laying operations and, prevent the achievement of a
weatherproof seal. Insulated sheet should be lifted from beneath
the bonded insulation and never by the aluminum alone as this
may cause the bond between the sheet and the insulation to
break.
Other way of lifting by fork lift, the panels should be placed on
the fork at equal length side by side in order to balance the
weight to avoid the possible drop off of the said materials and
to ensure the maximum loading capacity of the fork lift must be
attained.

Storage:
Ideally, cladding should be stored under cover in the original
packing and in a dry, well-ventilated position.
Even crated material should be stored under cover, to protect it
from the weather.
It is important to keep the sheets well away from building
operations where they could be contaminated with lime and
cement, which would cause staining. If they are stored for more
than a short time out of their packaging, precautions should be
taken to see that moisture is not allowed to percolate between
them.
If sheets are stored in the open they should be kept off the
ground and covered with polythene sheeting. Care must be
taken to ensure that the timber battens used in building the
stack are aligned and keep the tarpaulin off the metal. Wet
tarpaulins in contact with bare sheet should be avoided. When
covering sheets with tarpaulins it is important to ensure there is
adequate ventilation to prevent condensation occurring.
Stacks of loose sheets should not be built too high or the bottom
sheets may spread.
2.4.4
2.4.5
Field Measurements:
Site Cladding Engineer is in-charge in the overall measurements
with the assistance of a foreman who would strictly check in
order to ensure locations of structural members, openings etc.
would be traced out in accordance to the approved drawings.
2.4.6
Coordination:
Before the commencement of cladding activities, any other
trades such as MEP, related subcontractors and main
construction team would conduct a coordination meeting on
regular basis in order to facilitate/assist the activity at site in
smooth progress and to complete the project without any
mistakes, nonconformity being made.

2.4.7.2.1
MATERIALS:
Materials arriving on site should be checked
immediately for quantity, type and dimension
against appropriate Advise Notes. Particular
care should be taken to ensure the safe receipt
of small parcels containing fasteners, mastic
etc. When signing Advise Notes for sack or
bundles etc, it is only necessary to check the
type of contents and number of sacks, bundles
etc.
2.4.7.2.2
ERECTION DRAWINGS:
Prior to commencing installation, visual
checking would be carried out
for the
secondary steelwork. Any obvious problems
should be pointed out immediately to allow
remedial work to be undertaken before the
cladding fixer begins work. Fixer must ensure
that all relevant drawings and fixing instructions
are available. These should be consulted and
understood before commencing erection

BUILDING FRAMEWORK:
The frame of the building must be checked for
the following before commencing installation.
The frames would be checked by using man lift
to ensure horizontally and vertically wise the
frame is in true line and plumbed respectively.
2.4.7.2.4
SEPARATING SHEETS:
Care must be taken when separating items in
packs, to ensure that damage does not occur to
the coating. They should be separated with a
series of jerking movements, rather than one
continuous movement. During the hot weather,
it is best to separate protected metal
components early in the morning before the sun
has heated the packs.

Work Methodology
2.5.1
Roof Cladding:
The first line of installation for roof cladding would be at end wall
laid along the truss/rafter and must be carefully aligned, fixed
temporarily with 115mm. long, 6.3mm diameter self tapping
stainless steel fasteners with neoprene washers and PVC color
cap. Fixers would use 110-volts power tools for fixing and
working from a manlift.
First sheet of the first line would be lifted by crane to be laid out
starting from the eaves held to 50-50-50mm Z- angle spacer
fastened with 25mm. long 6.3mm. dia. Self tapping stainless
steel, the second and third sheet towards the ridge then it can
be finally fastened prior to proceed the succeeding line but
before fixing of any fasteners sheets must be correctly aligned at
right angles in relation to ridge and eaves line of building.
2.5.2
Ridge:
Crimped ridge would be laid after the installation of roof sheets
at each gable.
Flashing of 400 mm. width would be fixed at inner skin of roof
panel by blind rivets at 400mm. center to center. Flashing when
securely fixed 50 mm. thick polyurethane insulation would be
place on it then a 3x9mm polybutyl sealant tape would be
placed on sheet/outer skin of panel at three (3) rows side by
side from the edge of the panel.
Once the preceding works has been completed a 600mm. width
crimped ridge would be fixed to panel and fastened with blind
rivets at distance of 250mm. center to center.
The ridge will be installed as the roof sheets are laid ensuring all
holes are covered.
2.5.3.
Wall Cladding:
Wall cladding installation shall commence after the full
completion of the roofing installation. But before works proceed
deep check for the alignment of the rails, ensure that rail is in
true line and plumbed and must be done by cladding engineer
assisted with foreman.
