The political party Revolucin Democratica is a community of people that, grouped together under

democratic rules, participates in the Chilean political system. We understand revolution as the
profound change of the paradigms under which we live, and democratic revolution as the political
and institutional process of the construction of a majority favorable to the changes that we propose. We
do not believe in any type of violence as a means of social transformation and we recognize as
legitimate only peaceful means in order to achieve the democratic revolution that we want for Chile.
We are defined by a commitment to advancing towards an equal society. The party expresses its aims
by participating in various spaces of social and political power in order to influence and promote the
revolutions that we want to transform Chile. The decentralization of the party must be promoted
through the exercises of local democracy in accordance with the present statutes and unitary action.
The party is a space of inclusion, development and growth for new leaders so that they may politically
form themselves and appear as influential social actors that push for the transformative agenda that is
proposed in accordance with their principles.
The party promotes its political project by pacific, institutional and democratic means. Its actions will
be based on the following principles:
a) Democratic Principle: We understand democratic practice as that which emphasizes participation in
the making of decisions, transparent processes and that values the autonomy and co-responsibility of
the citizenry. Under this principle, we understand political action from the paradigm of colaboration. A
politics of majorities is done with others. As a party we aspire to construct a radically democratic
system in which the citizenry actively particpates in the big decisions that are made within the political
system. In this framework of democratic participation, we will promote in various areas the
particpations of citizens in decisions of local space, that affect their lives and those of their peers in a
decisive manner. In addition, in the internal structures of Revolucion Democratica we will protect
mechanism of representative democracy where all political positions are chosen by voting systems that
guarentee that particaption of its members. We will also place a focus on democratic parity where the
women and men of the party have the same possibilities to apply for positions of political leadership.
b) Principle of Transparency: A modern political organization must advance in the development of
mechanisms of transparency and the release of financial statements. As such, we understand
transparency as a way to improve the quality of politics. Revolucion Democratica will promote the
implementation of transparency mechanisms and the release of financial statements at the various
levels of its political action; in the political campaigns where it runs for positions of popular election
and in its internal structures in such a manner as to guarantee processes of voting, among others, have
opportune information with decentralized access.
c) Principle of Gender Equality: Part of the democratic deficit has its base in the unequal representation
of women in politics. As a party we are convinced that gender equality must be a principle that guides
our political action. Because of this we promote mechanism that allow women and men to run for
positions of internal political leadership in the party and in the definition of candidacies for positions of
popular election. In addition, we promote actions that allow for the strengthening of the participation of
women not only in spaces of representation in the Party but also in initiatives like forums, seminars,
schools of formation, among other instances, that allow the party to make a concrete and fundamental
showing of its principle of equality and non-discrimination.
d) Political Ethics: Political ethics must be at the center of the actions of the party. It is a principle that
allows us to address legitimate internal and external differences in a framework of equal treatment and

mutual respect. This must be the result of broad consensus in order to ensure that our members are
recognized as models in different areas for their political ethics among other characteristics; and in
promoting a political culture based on informed discussion and not in baseless controversy that
delegitimatizes others. The Supreme Court will have at its disposal mechanisms that allow it to receive
complaints and investigate actions that go against the the definitions of the party. This ethic should
publicly empower a New Citizen as a subject of duties and rights, orientated towards collaboration and
collective work.
e) Principle of Autonomy: Autonomy ought to be understood in this case as a framework under which
the definitions that are adopted in the distinct spaces of participation are respected by the rest of the
party. Nevertheless, these definitions must be made under the framework of processes previously
informed to the structures that politically lead the party. As such, it must be assured that for those
matters that could be the cause of dissent adequate processes of political analysis must be created for
the making of decisions.
f) Principle of Diversity and Inclusion: We are conscious that the democratic deficit includes, among
other factors, the lack of representation of various social and political actors. Human rights must be the
basis of the political definitions of the party as a theme that allows us to guarantee that our actions
promote equality and non-discrimination. There is no liberty when only few can choose. In this sense,
we value diversity and we seek to be a party that propose clear objectives for the country, such as: i)
putting forward a new model of development that is sustainable in the long term and that ensures equity
for Chile; and ii) constructing a new Citizen State, who principle focus is the achievement of equality
and protection from abuse and injustice.
g) Principle of Respect for Institutionality: Revolucion Democratica, in agreement with its political
conduct, recognizes itself as a party respectful of the current institutionality, and as a result, will
constantly use the mechanisms recognized in the constitution and the laws in order to fight for the
changes that its national politics determine, in conformity with the principles mentioned above.
