1 Contents of the Consignment

The PC Adapter USB package includes:

One "SIMATIC Software PC Adapter USB CD with software, Firmware and

One MPI/DP cable (0.3 m)

You can connect the PC Adapter USB to MPI networks, homogeneous PPI
networks or to PROFIBUS (DP) networks using the MPI cable.

2 Hardware Requirements
You require a PC with a USB interface and a CD ROM drive.

3 Software Requirements
An MS Windows operating system must be installed on the PC to operate the PC
Adapter USB. The PC Adapter USB Software V2.0 can be used with the following
operating systems:

MS Windows 2000

MS Windows XP Home

MS Windows XP Professional

MS Windows XP Home

MS Windows Server 2003 (R2 Standard Edition)

MS Windows Vista Business (32-Bit Edition)

MS Windows Vista Ultimate (32-Bit Edition)

MS Windows Vista Enterprise (32-Bit Edition)

and Furthermore you require a SIMATIC software package that communicates
uses the MPI communication (for example, STEP 7).
You require the software package STEP 7 Micro/WIN 32 version 4.0 or higher

5 Installing the Software

5.1Installing SIMATIC PC Adapter USB Software V2.0

The PC Adapter USB installation automatically starts after inserting the product
CD.
If this function is disabled, proceed as follows:
1. Insert your PC Adapter USB product CD in the CD ROM drive.
2. Open the root directory in this drive.
3. Double-click the "setup.exe" to launch the setup program.
The setup program guides you through the entire installation procedure.
Important Note:
SIMATIC PC Adapter USB registers itself in MS Windows operating system. You
cannot use MS Windows tools such as the Explorer to move PC Adapter USB files
and folders or rename or modify PC Adapter USB data in the MS Windows
Registry. The program may no longer run properly after any such modifications.

5.2Uninstalling SIMATIC PC Adapter USB Software V2.0

When removing software products, make sure you comply with MS Windows
requirements.
To do this use the applications:
Start > (Settings >) Control Panel > Software
or for MS Windows Vista:
Start > (Settings >) Control Panel > Programs (and Functions) to remove your
software package (e.g. "SIMATIC PC Adapter USB V2.0").
As an alternative you can also remove the software with the Setup program.
