Zinc-Coated Steel Wires for Telephony

Zinc-Coated Wire Strands for Lightning

Arresters at Power Transmission Lines

Produced according to ASTM A-111,

zinc-coating classes A and B.
The main application of this product
is in telephone and signal
transmission lines. Also used
as ground wires (counterpoise)
as a substitute for zinc-coated wires
fabricated conforming
to ASTM A-411.

(Ground Cable)

Modulus of Elasticity and

Coefficient of Linear
Expansion:
Average Modulus of
Elasticity (young) of wire
strands = 18,500 kgf/mm2

7-wire strand with double galvanizing and HS / EHS

resistance class manufactured conforming to ABNT
NBR 5908 and ASTM A-363.
Recommended for aerial cables over conducting
cables for assuring extra protection from damages
caused by atmospheric electrical discharges.
The basic characteristics of this product are:

Modulus of Elasticity
of comprising wires =
20,000 kgf/mm2
For steel wires and strands,
the difference between the
initial and final moduli
of elasticity is negligible;
the same value should be
considered for both cases.

Zinc-Coated for Electrification

and Communication
Belgo Bekaert zinc-coated steel wires and strands
for electrification and communication comply
with Brazilian and international specifications.
Product quality control begins with the selection
of raw materials for steel production, passing
through a series of tests during manufacturing
process, and proceeding through after-sale service.
The wires are double galvanized to meet zinccoating classes 1 and 2 (ABNT) and A and B (ASTM),
having quality certified by ISO 9002.
