Introduction:
CurriculumandProfessionalStandardsplayanimportantroleinschoolswhilebehaving
asaguidelineforteacherstofollowthroughoutaschoolyear.Curriculumfollowscurrenttrends
andknowledgeforwhichitisinnovativeandalwayschanginginordertoequipfuturestudents
forchallengestheywouldface,andcareerswhilealsomakingthemcompetitiveamongstsociety
as a whole. Not only does the curriculum and professional standards focus on academic
knowledge but also features learning competencies, social skills such as respect, peaceful
conflictmanagement,genderequality,justiceandinclusiveness.Thecurriculumalsosupportsa
learnerspersonaldevelopmentandselfrespect,confidence,adaptabilityalongwithteaching
students to be responsible citizens. This section will entail The New York State Learning
Standards and The Ontario Curriculum, alongside the Interstate New Teacher Assessment
SupportConsortiumStandards,TheNewYorkStateCodeofEthicsforEducators,TheOntario
EthicalTeacherStandards,P12NewYorkStateCommonCoreLearningStandardsforELA,
Math,SocialStudies,TeacherEducationAccreditationCouncil/CouncilforAccreditationfor
EducatorPreparation,andtheInternationalSocietyforTechnologyEducationforTeachersand
Students, Council forExceptional Children. Itwill outline whichprofessional standards and
curriculumwereusedandmetinwiththeartifactsintroducedinsectionthreewhileexplaining
the importance of the curriculum and standard for each artifact. Connecting the artifacts to
professionalstandardsandcurriculumhelpsensureateacherthattheyareontherighttrackand
havetakencareofalltheplanningneeds,andwantsforbecomingasuccessfulteacher.The

followingsectionwilldisplayachartwhichwillactasaguidethroughalltheartifactsandlist
standardsandcurriculumthatareusedforeachartifactfromsectionthree.TheNYS&Ontario
Curriculumhelpprovideastatewide/provincewidecurriculumwhichisfollowedbyallschool
boards,helpinggiveaguidelineaswhattoteachintheirgrade,andhelpprovidestabilityfor
childrenswitchingschoolsandalsoteachers,andgiveastrongfoundation.TheISTEstandards
forstudentsandteachersprovideaguidelineforteachersusingtechnologyintheirclassroom,it
isveryhelpfulforteacherstokeeptheISTEinmindforwhenworkingwithtechnologytoknow
itis helpfultouseinaclassroom,andhowitbenefits thestudents,andifweareusingit
correctly. Ontario Teachers Ethical Standards remind teachers of their duties and
professionalism,andremindthemofwhytheyareateacher,toberespectful,tocare,totrust,
anduseintegrity.TheNYSCodeofEthicsStandardsforaEducatorsprovidesallteachersin
NYSasetofprinciplestofollowwhichreallyturnsclassroomsintoaplacewherestudentsfeel
comfortable, and parents are connected, while teachers provide a challenging educational
environmentforallstudentstoachievehighstandards.Thenewcommoncorestandardsgohand
inhandwiththeNYScurriculum,asIhadpointedoutstandardsandcurriculumneedtostayup
todatewithcurrenttimesthisisanexampleofsuch.TheNewCommonCoreStandardshave
beeninitializedtogivemoresupportforteacherstoconcentrateonlanguage,mathandscience
asitisneededinUnitedStatesofAmerica.CECstandardshelpteachersbeawareandinclusive
when teaching and planning their lesson/unit plans, it is a guideline for teachers to use for
workingwithexceptionalchildren.INTASCstandardsareusedtodeterminewhattheteacher
willbedoinginclasswhileteaching,orwhatroleheorsheistakingonataparticulartime,and
what type of instruction is taking place. Lastly, the TEAC/CAEP Claims are expectations

establishedbyMedailleCollegeoftheirstudentsthataretobefollowedbyatalltimes,onedoes
not graduate ifit is felt bythecollege that thestudent is notcompetent tocarry outthese
