peacefulandbeautifultown.
Themainoccupationofthepeoplethereisfishing.Theseaistheir
livelihood.Besidesfishing,tourismhasalsobecomequitepopular.
TouristsstopoveratMersingontheirwaytotheislandsoffMersing.
ThemostpopularislandisPulauTioman.
ThepopulationhereismadeupofMalays,ChineseandIndians.The
majorityofthepeopleareMalays.Thereareeitherfishermenor
farmers.TheChinesearemostlyshopkeepersandrestaurantandhotel
owners.TheIndianswhoaretheminorityareeithercivilservantsor
rubbertappers.
Thetownconsistsofthreestreetsofshops.Therearethreeschools,a
Chinese,aMalayandanEnglishmediumschools.Thereisahospital
andafewprivateclinics,acinemahall,libraryandabigwetmarketby
thesea.Thereareanumberofhotelstoaccommodatetouristswhoflock
toMersingtovisittheIslands.
Thepeopleinmyhometownliveinpeaceandharmony.Ilovethepeace
andquietofmylittlehometown.
