Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in our program! Youth Engagement is a unique initiative
planned and run entirely by students from U of T UNICEF. Our mission is to educate
children in the community on issues such as child rights, equity, and social justice in
hopes of aiding their development as responsible future leaders with compassion and
awareness.
To this end we conduct workshops on a bi-weekly basis at select community centres.
At these workshops our volunteers run UNICEF activities that are designed to engage
children and make the content accessible. Volunteers are to oversee each activity
and explain its significance, drawing attention back to the overall theme topic. Thus,
our volunteers are absolutely essential to the operation of the Youth Engagement
program and the delivery of its message.
Placements will occur through the Youth Engagement team. As a volunteer you
would be connected to a designated program host and conduct workshops with an
assigned partner. Training and activities/curriculum will be provided by U of T UNICEF.
However, workshops will primarily be planned out by the volunteers themselves.
Therefore, the program requires strong initiative and dedication from each volunteer,
and it is expected that volunteers conduct themselves with professionalism and
responsibility. It is important to keep in mind that you would be representing U of T
UNICEF.
On top of gaining valuable experience working with children, volunteers receive a
certificate and letter upon completion of the program (i.e. end of the academic year)
as a token of our gratitude. We hope that you will find the experience every bit as
rewarding as we did, and if you have any further questions please dont hesitate to
contact us.
Thank you for your interest and best of luck,
