ASSURE Model Instructional Plan

Career Education Tourism and Factors affecting its vacation choice to Guam
Note: This lesson will be plan on Japans Golden week of 1 week leave from work to have
personal or family vacations during first week of May. (Fun Activity before school ends)
100 minute Block schedule
Analyze learners

1. Grade: 10- 12
2. Number of students: 35 - 48
3. Sex: Mix pertaining to each period where some Males dominate and some females
dominate
4. Ages: 15 - 19 yrs old
5. Ethnicity: Chamorro, Filipino, Chuckees, Yapese, Palauan, Marshallese, Chinese,
Korean, Phonpei,
6. Socioeconomic status: Generally are in the mid to very low status
Learning Styles
The students seem to be more interested in real life examples or relevant materials being learned.
Cooperative learning seems to be a great way for students learn together and socially. Also, they
are really engaged in their presentations especially since they had been working or watching each
other present multiple times together.

Select Media, Materials, and Methods

Media: Microsoft Office Excel 2007

Materials: 24 computers minimum and hopefully every computer for every students,
spread sheet table template for 4 groups, and example of finished activity projected on

the board.
Methods: Students will be divided equally into 4 groups. Teacher will give and explain
some tips as to how activity will be done. Students will do some in class examples of
how to create excel graphs, pies, or bar charts to refresh and build confidence. Also,
teacher will have some class discussions on business or corporations that introduce the
concept of SWOT analysis. Finally, teacher will explain and show examples of
Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats as factors affecting examples shown and
shred in class.

Utilize Media, Materials, and Methods


Preview the materials
The teacher will view various sites to see that information the students need are readily available
on-line.
Prepare the materials
The teacher will prepare students examples of finish excel activity with an explanation of the
SWOT analysis.

Media usage
Each student will have a PC to do their data collection and input them on their Microsoft word.
Also, after each group acquires their years data given by the teacher collection, they will
disseminate their analysis as to factors affecting the rise and fall of that given year.
Prepare the environment
The teacher will give a brief explanation and run some examples of what is needed to accomplish
the task. Also, the students will have some hands on learning on surfing; excel preparation,
graph examples, and factor examples.

Require Learners Participation


Each member of the group will identify and collect their data as well as factors they want to
concentrate in individually. Then the group will learn to divide the work from data entry, spread
sheet preparation, factor identifier per year, and presenters of their findings. Then each group
will share their tourist decade with graph chart and the SWOT analysis findings.
Evaluate and Revise
Teacher will evaluate the performance of each objectives being targeted by the students
performances.

Teacher will examine each groups performance by checking for data recorded on all years
ended given by teacher.

Final Group Grade Evaluation will base upon the meeting of the objectives and presentation of
the groups.
