Table 2 shows the result of the extent involvement of the 3 rd year engineering
students of Saint Joseph institute of technology in terms of oral communication. As
rated by the respondents the overall result for this branch of independent variable is
2.81 which is most of the respondent are agreed for this all items related to oral
communication. The highest is the item 1with a rating of 3, while the lowest is the item 5
with a rating of 2.541. Through of the answers of the respondents it is stated that the
teaching and learning activities of the instructors through oral communication are
agreed by the 3rd year engineering students.

Table 3 shows the result of the extent involvement of the 3 rd year engineering
students of Saint Joseph institute of technology in terms of application and classroom
activities. As what respondents response for this item the result for the highest ratings
is the item number 5 with a result of 3.03 while the lowest is item number 3 with a result
of 2.77. And it revealed that the overall mean of 2.90 has a verbal description of Agree
according to the result of each item. This means that the application and classroom
activity of the instructors given on their students is okay for them because it result good
into their academic retention that is why most of the respondents are agreed on the
given item.

Table 4 shows the result of the extent involvement of the 3 rd year engineering
students of Saint Joseph institute of technology in terms of utilization of visual aids, oral
communication and application and classroom activities. It shows that the overall mean
of utilization of visual aids is 2.83, while the oral communication is 2.81 and the last
factor which is application and classroom activities has an overall mean of 2.90. All
factors had a verbal description of Agree. And as the result revealed the teaching and
learning activities has an involvement regarding to the following factors. And it shows
that they are closely related to each other due to the result that they are just different in
their decimal places.

The table 7 shows the significant relationship between Teaching and Learning
Activities and Academic Retention of the 3 rd year engineering student of Saint Joseph
Institute of Technology. It shows that the correlation of the two variables is 0.772 which
means that the teaching and learning activities and the academic retention of the 3 rd
year engineering have a very high positive correlation. Based on the result the null
hypothesis of the problem is rejected. As a result it shows that there is a significant
relationship between teaching and learning activities and the academic retention of the
3rd year engineering student of Saint Joseph Institute of technology.
