process of the industries into major drivers of the
economic environment has gained considerable
momentum.
In response to ever changing
government policies, market demand, and global
changes, the Master of Business Administration
(MBA) offered at Makerere University College of
Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) is
designed to meet the challenging needs of the policy
and market environments. The need for such a degree
program cannot be overemphasized particularly at a
time when the country needs professional business
managers in all sectors of the rapidly growing
economy. The program is meant to equip students
with postgraduate level analytical skills relevant to
the conducting business administration
The program is intended to help prospective
students to develop a holistic view of business and
related disciplines and enhance their awareness of
social, economic and ethical issues. It gives them the
opportunity to practice and also acquire essential
skills, including interpersonal skills and competences,
intellectual and evaluative skills; problem solving
skills, leadership and entrepreneurial skills as well
as improving their ability to operate and manage
in a global and multi-cultural environment, think
beyond functional responsibilities and make
decisions that span disciplines, innovate, lead
change and transformation and continuously learn
and develop flexibility of mind.
The MBA program is therefore a highly professional
program which provides practical oriented skills
and qualifications for people in the areas of finance,
accounting, human resource, management, public
sector management, marketing, health sector
management and general management.

The Structure of the MBA Programme


(Commencing 2012/2013 Academic Year)
The program runs on a semester system for two
(2) years with four (4) semesters. Students are
required to offer core courses in the 1st & 2nd
Semester, then specialise in any of the following
areas in the third and forth semesters;
