14 Baptismal Preparation
Forster 7pm

This week I was given part of the text of the late Cardinal Basil Humes
funeral homily delivered by Bishop John Crowley. Cardinal Hume was
the first Monk to be made a Bishop in England since 1850 and, under
his leadership as the highest ranking member of the Catholic Church in
England, restored much to the public face of Catholicism in England for
some 400 years, since the reign of the Tudors. So thanks Tony for
sharing it with me. I was so taken with it that I would like to share a
small part of it with you, my Parish family.
"All during that initial period of waiting for death he found, to his
delight, that his prayer was amazingly sweet, full of consolation. But
then 'the curtain came down', and it was back to the darkness of faith.
But I wasn't worried, he said, because I knew what was behind that
curtain. In those last days here on earth he came to a fresh
understanding of Our Father. It was, he said, like discovering its inner
meaning for the very first time 'It's only now that I begin to glimpse
how everything we need is right there in the Lord's prayer. In the
presence of a friend, he then prayed the first three phrases of the Our
Father, adding to each phrase a tiny commentary of his own. Sitting
there and listening was somehow to understand afresh all that he
stood for, to see again with great clarity why we admired him so much
and loved him so deeply.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name' - to sing the
praises of God, it is that for which we were made, and it is that which
will be, for all eternity, our greatest joy.
'Thy Kingdom come' - the gospel values of Jesus, justice, love and
peace, embraced throughout the whole world and in all their fullness.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven' - that's the only thing
which really matters. What God wants for us is what is best for us.
"In those final weeks, curtain up or curtain down, the Cardinal's one
prayer was simply this: 'Father, into your hands I commend my
spirit.
Best wishes for the week ahead. Feel free to add the Cardinals
reflection to your own prayer this week as you pray the Lords Prayer.
Best wishes,

Greg

Remembrance Mass

Sacristans

Recently Deceased

On Friday 27th November at 7pm in

Tuncurry Church, we will be holding a
Remembrance Mass for the Souls of the
Faithful departed. The Parish has
traditionally remembered all those who
have died during the preceding twelve
months and this year we will have a
particular focus for those families who
have lost a child. You are welcome to
bring a small personalized candle to
commemorate your loved one during
the Liturgy. There will also be some
small candles available on the day. All
are welcome to attend.

The parish currently has a couple of

positions vacant for the role of Sacristan,
particularly on week days. If you feel that
you are able to arrive early to assist in the
set up for Mass and stay a few minutes after
Mass to assist in the clean-up, you may be
the person we are looking for. This
rewarding Ministry requires a sense of the
liturgy and an eye for detail. Great working
conditions available and a remuneration
package literally beyond this world. For
details contact Fr Greg.

Daphne Wright, Jillian Oliver.

Flower Rosters
We are currently seeking people to assist in
the arrangement of flowers on the Altar in
Tuncurry and a number of people who may
be interested in a similar ministry in Forster,
on a more Ad Hoc basis. For more
information and to express your interest
please contact the parish office.

Household Items Required

Sr Kathryn requires 2 single beds, a set of
bunk beds and a refrigerator. If you can
assist please phone 6554 6479.

It is with great sadness that we bid

farewell to Jeanette Goodacre, who will
be leaving the parish this weekend to be
with family. Jeanettes enthusiasm and
love for singing was evident during her
time here. We thank her for her
significant contribution to our parish and
will miss her as a valued member of our
congregation.
Please join us in wishing Jeanette all the
very best - Gods blessing Jeannette and
safe travels from everyone in Forster
Tuncurry Parish!

The Little Blue Books

HAIL REDEEMER, KING DIVINE

For just $5 you can purchase a Little Blue

Book that will assist you in your journey
through the Advent and Christmas season.
There are 1,140 minutes in each day. Can you
spare 6 of those minutes to pray with the
Little Blue Book?
Purchase your book at the rear of the church.

Hail Redeemer, King divine!

Priest and Lamb, the throne is thine;
King, whose reign shall never cease,
Prince of everlasting peace.

Baptism this Weekend

This weekend we witness the Baptism of:
Isaac Nicholas Hatton, son of Nathan and
Kristy.
May the gift of Baptism he receives
strengthen Nathan for the journey of life and
faith he will share with us. Please remember
the Hatton family in your prayers.

Angels, saints and nations sing :

"Praise be Jesus Christ our King;
Lord of life, earth, sky and sea,
King of love on Calvary!"
King, whose name creation thrills,
rule our hearts, our minds, our wills;
till in peace, each nation rings
with thy praises, King of kings.
King most holy, King of truth,
guard the lowly, guide the youth;
Christ the King of glory bright,
be to us eternal light.
Shepherd-king, o'er mountains steep
homeward bring the wandering sheep;
shelter in one royal fold
states and kingdoms, new and old.

SVDP Christmas Cards and Columbian Calendars

At all Masses next weekend, we will be selling Christian Christmas cards ($6 for pack of 10)
and Columbian Calendars ($9 each). As Joe the Gadget Man says bring ya money with ya!
