1 SUMMARY
The Final Project Report should be presented in a structured and logical order. The report will include your
literature review, test methods, results, and conclusions.
The report:
Must conform to the Style Guide for Presentation of Final Year Research Reports
Must include a cover printed on bright yellow paper/card and based on the Final Project Report

Excluding references and appendices, must not exceed 70 pages (for one student) or a maximum of
100 pages (for two students or more in a group).
A list of persons contacted as part of the research, their contact details including address, company,
telephone number, fax number and email should be included as the last appendix of the report.
Extra material, such as computer outputs, should be submitted separately or included in the Project File
(refer below).
Allow for congestion and problems in the CATS and with final printing and binding. Excuses in relation to
these will not be accepted. Plan to submit early. Late submission will result in a penalty of 0.5 marks per
hour.
In addition to your Final Project Report, you are required to also submit a project or activity file of your
research work.
2 SUBMISSION DETAILS
The Final Project Report has the following submissions:

The suggested format for the Draft Final Project Report is to email a digital file (.docx) to your Supervisor for
their review and feedback comments. Some Supervisors might prefer to receive a printed version of the Draft
Final Project Report. You should discuss these arrangements with your Supervisor in advance of the
submission deadline.
Your Supervisor will provide feedback (suggestions, comments and/or corrections) and shall return the Draft
Final Project Report to your group by the deadline stated in the Course Profile.
2.2
STATEMENT OF ORIGINALITY
A signed Statement of Originality must be included in the Final Project Report. The Statement of Originality
must include the text:
We (I) declare that all the material within this report is our (my) own work with the exception of where the
work of others is referenced, in accordance with the University Policy Statement on Plagiarism, Collusion
and Related Forms of Cheating.
We (I) give permission for this project to be reproduced and submitted to other academic staff for the
purposes of assessment, and to be stored in the Schools library as reference material.

Each person or group is required to keep a Project File for their Research Project. This Project File should
contain:
All papers collected, and any summaries of papers compiled, during the literature review stage;
Notes taken during the project;
All rough calculations used in preparing the report;
All word (.doc or .docx files) of the all formal submissions (Initial Project Report, Final Project
Report and Conference Paper); and,
Minutes of your weekly meetings with your Supervisor.
The Project File will be used in the assessment of the Research Project component as well as for deciding on
the best project.
Each group is required to submit:
One (1) CD containing a full copy of the Final Report.
Label the CD (ON the CD itself) with the following information: YYYY (Year) | your Group Number |
Title of your Final Report | your Supervisors name
[FYI: These CDs are retained in the School Office and are loaned to future students/staff as
requested.]
Project File - on a labelled USB or CD (check with your own Supervisor as to what they would
prefer). Each CD-ROM or USB should contain the Project File information listed above as well as
copies of all computer programs developed in the project, all input data files used and examples of
output data files, all relevant results figures and photographs.

CDs must be submitted in a sleeve (not a CD box) which can be provided by the School Office staff.
Failure to submit a Project File will result in a deduction of 10%.
