Chapter 1 - Sending Called and Trained Christian Leaders

(The Video Slides)

IDENTIFYING REVIVAL LEADERS - SENDING CALLED AND TRAINED
CHRISTIAN LEADERS
Henry Reyenga
Revival Back to God
Genesis 4:26b Then began men to call upon the name of Jehovah.
What is Revival?
Revival is individual and corporate reconnecting to God in a pronounced way. Individual revival
is the restoring of a persons spiritual life. Corporate revival is when groups together experience
individual revival to God. After the time of Pentecost, this type of revival is very evangelistic in
that the Holy Spirit is poured out in a powerful way beyond just a few leaders (Acts 2).
Jesus Trained Revival Leaders
Jesus had trained leaders for revival called disciples. They were ordinary fisherman. God seems
to often choose lowly unexpected leaders for great revival. Or he brings the high low, and once
God makes them low, he uses them. Jesus meets Saul on route to persecute Christian leaders.
Jesus shows up. Paul fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, Saul, Saul, why do you
persecute me? (Acts 9:4).
Top Verbal Expressions of Revival
As I study about church history and the revivals back to God, I have come up with my top
verbal expressions that have characterized revivals. Repenting, evangelizing, worshiping,
believing God (Faith), holding firm to scriptural truth, deeper indwelling of the Holy Spirit,
fighting spiritual warfare, filling of the Holy Spirit, reconciling races, rebirthing to Kingdom of
God focus, praying for revival, and raising up leaders.
Example of an Historical Revival
Adoniram Judson was a called leader.
Adoniram Judson was a difference-maker.
Adoniram Judson was the first American missionary to Burma

Evangelistic capital has been raised up.

These converts have formed a core of evangelistic capital which is ready to be identified, trained
and mobilized to reach deeper into regions of the earth not yet reached.

Sponsors and mentors are in place in many parts of the world.

The missionary leadership capital is in place whereby Christian mentors and pastors are able to
provide a local context for students that enroll at CLI.
The Missionary To Indigenous Missionary
Every called leaders needs to mobilized.
Christian Leaders Institute is committed to encouraging the called to go as far as they can go in
getting the training they need to effectively lead in their local community. We believe the
currency of ownership in ministry training will be "calling" and not money.
The Missionary To Indigenous Missionary
These called leaders need the qualifications of office bearers.
Christian Leaders Institute encourages those who possess the Biblical qualifications of being an
office bearer, as found in 1 Timothy 3, as those who are actually called into ministry.
The Missionary To Indigenous Missionary
Bi-vocational opportunity.
These called leaders are largely going to be bi-vocational and they will not necessarily be called
with the expectation of becoming full-time paid clergy.
The Missionary To Indigenous Missionary
Leaders who have a walk with God.
A student of CLI will be taught how to have a simple, reproducible walk with God in their
personal life, with their family, and supported by their church. This walk is to be shared with
those who do not have a walk with God.
The Missionary To Indigenous Missionary
Leaders are grounded in the full counsel of God.

Christian Leaders Institute believes that students need the full counsel of God. We offer over 20
classes that include advanced courses that are taught at leading Bible schools and seminaries.
The Missionary To Indigenous Missionary
Technology will play a central role in bringing the training.
Christian Leaders Institute believes that this technology represents an opportunity for supporting,
encouraging and becoming involved in a great open door to ministry training.
