Title: Looping and Layering the Sound of Water Movement and Human Activity in Terpadu Pulo Gebang Terminal as an Interactive Spatial Auditory Entity. Theme : Altering the dominance of the visual aspects into auditory aspects to perceiving and experiencing space. I combine human movement noise, water movement sound, and any other sound that exist on the site. Content: In order to perceive or experiencing the space, mostly we use our eyes. Visual aspect dominating how we identification and measure the space. So I started with the question Can we perceive, experience, measure, and identification the space with auditory aspect dominating instead of visual aspect?. It will be great. It can help blind people too. I research about blind boy that can see without his eyes. He see the world through his ear. It connects me to echolocation. Echolocation is same method as dolphins used to communicating each other. This method also inspired the making of underwater radar for submarine. This method gives me idea for depeloping the design. actually I did not really discuss this method from the standpoint of science. But I used this method to develop the concept in the design space from an architectural standpoint.. The first thing that came into my mind about the noise component that is in the bus terminal is human movement. After that, I think another element to be combined with the sound of the human movement. This terminal does not need a voice that needs to be lived, in other words, do not need any energy to produce the sound. Instead of these elements that can turn on and will energize the terminal. The element is water. Water has the property of flowing from upstream to downstream. Besides, water is often also used for power generation. If this water can flow regularly the terminal building can support itself. The next stage is to look for water loop systems. In the terminal, passengers would come and go regularly. I take advantage of this regulation. Each piece of tile in this terminal is the pump. visitor terminal that runs consistently stepping on the tiles, automatically pumping water that has dropped down to the reservoir above to flow again. So in this way the terminal can get a sound source from water and obtain its own energy. Furthermore, I observed the water diverter pipes. As we know, rocky river produces more noise than the river that is not rocky. I experimented with contour and surface pipes to produce a particular sound. The sound is then recorded and combined with the
movement of people in the terminal for the arranged. Each room
has its own characteristic arrangement. From here visitors can identify the space, direction, a distance of spaces. I hope this can help blind people even those who are not blind to be more sensitive to the senses of hearing as the impulse receiver in the experiencing and perceiving the space.
