13

As the oracle user, recreate the FRA. The location of the FRA must be the same as on
the machine where the backup was performed.
(If this location exists, to go the next step.)
Example:
mkdir p /alcatel/oracle/admin/SNM/flash_recovery_area

Result: The FRA location is recreated.

...................................................................................................................................................................................................

14

Restore the backup files to their respective locations, as follows:

Restore the files generated during the database backup to the FRA location,
maintaining the same directory structure.
The FRA location and all sub-directories must have the owner user name set to
oracle and owner group name set to oinstall.
Use the ls al <Flash Recovery Area absolute location> command to
find the current owner information.
To find out the location of the Flash Recovery Area, login to the sqlplus utility and
run the following command:
SQL> show parameter db_recovery_file_dest

The VALUE field has the location of the Flash Recovery Area.
If the owner is different, in a terminal window, as the root user, type:
chown -R oracle:oinstall <Flash Recovery Area absolute
location>

Restore the files saved during the backup oracle configuration files operation to the
same location from where they were backed up.

Result: The Oracle database is restored.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

15

Cleanup the Oracle parameter files.

Note: This step is performed differently on each node of the cluster.
Check if the opt/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/dbs/orapwSNM orapwSNM<cluster_
instance_node> link exists:
ls -l /opt/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/dbs

If it does not exist, create a symbolic link towards the orapwSNM file.
As the root user, run the following commands:
su - oracle
cd /opt/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/dbs
ln -s /opt/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/dbs/orapwSNM orapwSNM<cluster_
instance_node>

Where <cluster_instance_node> is the node number (1 for node1, 2 for node2,

etc.).
Check if the spfileSNM.ora file is present under ASM:
su - oracle
export ORACLE_SID=+ASM1
asmcmd ls DATA/SNM/spfileSNM.ora

spfileSNM.ora

If the spfileSNM.ora file is not under ASM, create it:

....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Procedure 3-2: Configure indicator storage duration

The administrator can change the storage duration of indicators per periodicity and per
object type or per group of indicators.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Logon to the server as the root user.

Result: You are logged onto the server.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Copy and rename the storage duration file into a saved location.
Example:
cp
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_COMMON/config/StorageDuration.csv
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/NewStorageDuration.csv

Result: The storage duration file is saved in a new location.

...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Modify as appropriate the duration values in the new configuration storage duration file.
Note: Do not modify the first two lines of the NewStorageDuration.csv file.
Result: The duration values are modified.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Run the following script, giving as argument the full pathname of the file that contains the
duration values:
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/ConfigIndDuration.sh

Example:
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/ConfigIndDuration.sh
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/NewStorageDuration.csv

If the new values are smaller than the Alcatel-Lucent recommendations (recommended
minimum values: Raw/Daily 5days, Weekly 1 week, Monthly 1 month), a warning is
displayed.
The administrator is not allowed to change the storage duration to a less than zero value.
An error is displayed if a negative value is set. Only a positive or null value is allowed.
If the new values are greater than the Alcatel-Lucent recommendation, the system warns
the administrator to check if there is enough disk space available.
Result: The storage duration values are then updated in the database and the status of

the operation is displayed to the administrator.

The next time the purge runs (typically the following night), the new duration is taken
into account.

Procedure 3-3: Configure parameter storage duration

The administrator can change the storage duration of all parameters.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Logon to the server as the root user.

Result: You are logged onto the server.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Copy and rename the Parameter Storage duration file into a safe location.
Example:
cp
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/config/paramStorageDuration.cfg
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/NewParamStorage.cfg

Result: The Parameter Storage duration file is copied and renamed.

...................................................................................................................................................................................................

In the new storage duration file (for example, NewParamStorage.cfg), modify the
MAX_PREV_DAYS attribute to indicate the new maximum number of days for
parameters storage duration.
Result: The MAX_PREV_DAYS attribute is modified.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Run the following script:

/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/Configure.sh -p <new_storage_duration_file>

Where <new_storage_duration_file> is the absolute path and name of the file that
contains the new parameters storage duration values.
Example:
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/Configure.sh -p
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/NewParamStorage.cfg

If the new values are greater than the Alcatel-Lucent recommendations (recommended
maximum values: 400 days), a warning is displayed.
The administrator is not allowed to change the storage duration to a less than zero value.
An error is displayed if a negative value is set. Only a positive or null value is allowed.
If the new values are greater than the Alcatel-Lucent recommendation, the system warns
the administrator to check if there is enough disk space available.
Result: The parameter storage duration is updated in the database, and is used for

Parameter Purging. The status of the operation is displayed to the administrator.

The next time the purge runs (typically the following night), the new duration is taken
into account. Therefore, parameter values older than MAX_PREV_DAYS days
(default: 400 days) are not reliable.

Logon to the server as the root user.

Result: You are logged onto the server.

Edit the laser-partition.properties file with the appropriate new values, from the
following directory:
/alcatel/muse/MUSE_QOS/Laser/partition/config/

Ensure that the new values are not greater than the Alcatel-Lucent recommendations: 180
days.
Result: The laser-partition.properties file contains the new values.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Check the new duration values by launching the following file:

/alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin/LaserStorageDuration.sh

Result: The newly set values are displayed. If the values are less than the default

purge values, a warning appears and you must update the laser-partition.properties
file with the correct values.
If the new values are greater than the Alcatel-Lucent recommendation, the system
warns the administrator to check if there is enough disk space available.
The next time the purge runs (typically the following night), the new duration is taken
into account.

Procedure 4-2: Change identification mode from CI to LAC/CI

The identification modes supported by NPO are MCC/MNC/CI and MCC/MNC/LAC/CI.
It is possible to swap from the first identification to the later identification (but not the
reverse!). The identification swap affects all the external identifications that may contain
the LAC id (e.g. TRX, TSL, etc). The LAC id is inserted in all such external ids.
