Intramuros conferred Heritage Award by Spain

Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr., as Chairman of the Intramuros Administration, receives the Premio
Patrimonio de la Humanidad (Heritage Award) from Mayor Jos Luis Rivas Hernadez, Mayor of Avila, Spain and
also the concurrent president of the Group of World Heritage Cities in Spain. Held last 31 October 2015 at the
Palace of Los Verdugo in Avila, the award is in recognition of the successful conservation, restoration, and
redevelopment programs of the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) in the historic district of Intramuros.
The Intramuros Administration is an attached agency of the PDOT.

The Group of World Heritage Cities of Spain is composed of fifteen (15) cities whose monumental sites have
been awarded the World Heritage destination by the UNESCO. Secretary Jimenez is joined by the mayors of
other member cities after he receives the award.
