aid you in securing an internship! The internships listed below are just a sampling of what is available. For

WORKSHOP: MAXIMIZING YOUR INTERNSHIP


Are you interning or interested in becoming an intern? Want to network with other USC students and
learn the tricks of the trade? If so, join the Career Planning & Placement Center (CPPC) for the
Maximizing Your Internship workshop. This workshop is designed to help you make the most of your
internship experience, while becoming an all-star intern. Learn from current USC student interns as they
share their internship advice/experiences. The panel will be held on Tuesday, April 6th from 6-7:30pm
in the Trojan Presentation Room (STU B3).

LOOKING FOR THAT PERFECT INTERNSHIP?


USC is proud to provide you with another resource to finding that next internship! In addition to
connectSC, you can access the iNet Internship Consortium — an internship database with a wide array
of opportunities and locations. The iNet Consortium attracts employers from across the country to post
internships that are available to students from a select group of universities including: USC, Georgetown,

CAREER CENTER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS


The Career Planning & Placement Center is offering two great summer internship programs for 2010,
Dream Dollars and The Scheyer Family Scholarship.

The Dream Dollars Program is a unique “scholarship” program for undergraduates. The USC Dream
Dollars Program provides stipends for USC students who receive internships with a non-profit or
government organization. This program will support students hoping to gain work experience from an
unpaid internship. Students will be selected through an application and interview process. All internships
must be a minimum of six weeks during the summer. The program provides a stipend of $1,200 for each

The Scheyer Family Scholarship for Summer Interns, established in December of 2007, will provide an
award of $2,500.00 to two students enrolled in approved summer internships. Preference will be given to
sophomores, juniors or seniors with demonstrated financial need. Student recipients must have a major in
the USC College of Letters, Arts & Sciences and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students
must be in good academic standing and must have a graduation date between December 2010 and May
2013. Students must have an internship prior to applying for this scholarship. For more information go to

PAID INTERNSHIPS
 National Farm Workers Service Center – Summer Associate
The NFWSC, a non-profit established by Cesar Chavez & Dolores Huerta, is seeking reliable and
self-starting college students to work with at-risk youth, between grades K-8th, as a summer intern.
The intern will work with the site staff in implementing the summer program, implement reading &
subject learning center activities, etc. Position requirements: at least 18 years of age, US citizen or
legal resident, interest in helping a low-income community establish new programs to help children,
and able to commit to 10 weeks of service ( June 3 - August 11, 2010). Benefits include: ultimate
learning and work experience, $2000 summer stipend and an end of service education award of $1000
upon completion of 300 service hours (30 hours/week). Housing is available at most sites. Please note
that NFWSC will not be covering travel costs to and from the site location. Applicant submission

 Zecco Trading – Associate (2-4 Openings)


In an effort to develop and create leaders within the Organization, Zecco Trading has created the
Zecco Associate Program. The successful candidate should be a customer centric, career focused, a
focused individual with impeccable soft skills currently enrolled as a full or part time student in an
accredited university. Associate will develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all aspects of the
Zecco Trading Center. Review customer feedback and escalate suggestions to the appropriate
management team. Service customer directly via –email, live chat, and phone. Maintain positive
working relationships with all co-workers, management, and customers. Other duties as assigned. The
candidate is focused on long-term career development seeing the big picture as well as the importance
of the small details. The selected candidates (2-4) will undergo extensive training to understand all
parts of Zecco Trading. The individual should be prepared to devote a minimum of 6 months to the
Zecco Trading Internship. This is a part time opportunity and hours may change based on business
needs but will not exceed 20 hours per week. · Competitive hourly rate. No cold calling. Attend
extensive training in Zecco Trading’s 3 -5 week pipeline classes. Assigned Zecco employee as
“mentor”. After training Flexible hours to match class needs with primary hours: 6:00 pm – 12:00 am.
3 days weekly with no more than 20 hours weekly. FINRA sponsored licensing opportunity after 6-
month of successful work. Potential for long-term employment. Reliable transportation is must.

 Edwards Lifesciences – Government Affairs Intern


Edwards Lifesciences is the global leader in the science of heart valves and hemodynamic

worldwide, selling medical technologies in nearly 100 countries with 2008 sales of $1.24 billion. The
Government Affairs team is located in Washington, DC and advocates for public policies that support
the strategic objectives of the company. Intern will manage projects, attend meetings and
Congressional hearings, provide research assistance, perform various writing tasks, and provide
administrative assistance. Candidates must be highly motivated, detail-oriented individuals, with
strong oral and writing skills. A strong interest in public policy and government relations is required.
Upperclassmen preferred. Intern will develop hands-on experience, learning the inner-workings of a
small and efficient corporate government affairs office, including the Vice President of Government
Affairs, Senior Director of Government Affairs and National Director, State Government Affairs.
Work directly with a close-knit, senior-level team of government affairs professionals with more than
50 years of collective experience. Ample opportunity given to interns who show initiative and are

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
 Feel Good Film Festival – Intern
The Feel Good Film Festival is a non-profit film showcase encouraging the development, production,
and distribution of short or feature length films with happy endings, that make audiences laugh, and
that capture the beauty of our world. Interns will gain invaluable first-hand experience in festival
production through working with skilled staff members on projects and events. Summer internship
duties will focus on production. Blog about the festival. Assist with event planning. Answer
filmmaker, volunteer and patron questions. Assist in the event and wrapping the festival up. Compile
sponsorship packets and demographic surveys. Applicants must be friendly, outgoing and self
sufficient with the assignments at hand. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint,
Photoshop and Filmmaker Pro a plus. Ability to work in a small office or at home. Good phone skills
to interact with filmmakers, volunteers and attendees. Excellent internet and research skills. Ability to
do some physical work. Students must be registered for an internship for academic credit with their
college or university, and must provide official documentation upon acceptance of this internship.
Open to college upperclassmen (juniors/seniors) and students currently enrolled in their sophomore
year. We also accept law students eligible to receive internship credit. Must be able to work 15-30

 Social Earth – Social Media Intern


SocialEarth is a fresh, entrepreneurial and socially mindful weblog focusing on businesses that are
doing good through their work. At SocialEarth, we believe the future of our livelihoods and our world
depends on the creation and sustainability of such businesses. As a Social Media Intern, you’ll rock
the web with news and information about social entrepreneurship. Responsibilities include optimizing
SocialEarth’s use of social media sites such as Twitter, FriendFeed, and Facebook. Submitting
articles on social news sites such as Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Yahoo Buzz, Del.icio.us, Mixx, and
Newsvine. Assist in growing site readership. Build brand presence on social networks (ie link backs,
followers, etc.). Research communities and websites which would be beneficial in user acquisition.
Use SocialEarth on a daily basis (reading, commenting, ideas for improvement). Must have strong
understanding of the social web and user objectives. Cause related marketing experience preferred.
Strong knowledge/interest in online marketing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently. Strong sense of integrity. Ability to learn quickly. Flexible hours – 7-

 Tstar Media – Intern


Located in Studio City, Tstar Media is a new social media music network and aggregated news and
opinion blog. We are looking for students who are interested in the music industry and how social
networks are used as a platform for artists to connect with fans as well as provide original editorial
content. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to contributing original content to the
blog in the form of live show reviews, interviews with artists and industry executives. Regular
posting of video links and stories to Tstar Media blog pages. Some management of artist profile
pages. Writing up daily news items in the areas of tech, gaming, music, “green” and film/tv.
Researching new websites and opportunities. MUST have working knowledge of social networking
profiles like Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter. General knowledge of the music business. Strong

 Office of Congresswoman Linda Sanchez – Congressional Intern


Congresswoman Sánchez’ Congressional Internship Program for summer of 2010 is located in her
local district office in Cerritos, CA. The Congresswoman believes it is important for youth to become
politically aware and active. For that reason, she is offering one paid and several unpaid internships in
her local district office. This internship is part of the Congresswoman’s on-going effort to encourage
youth in our region to explore careers in public service. In addition, Congresswoman Sánchez is
sensitive to students who may wish to intern but who might be unable to participate for financial
reasons. For that reason, Congresswoman Sánchez has specially set aside funds in her Congressional
office budget to offer one paid internship in her Cerritos office during summer 2010. The
Congressional Internship program is open to all high school and college students who have a
minimum 3.0 GPA. The program begins with a day of training and follows with three to four months
of professional development in areas such as social services, foreign language translation, office
management, communications and research. Completed applications (with résumé and cover letter)
are due by 5pm on Friday, May 7, 2010. Applications will only be accepted after the deadline if

 Senator Diane Feinstein Los Angeles Office – Summer Interns


Senator Feinstein's Los Angeles office is looking for highly motivated college students for internship
opportunities during this summer. I have included information on the internship below and attached.
Please feel free to forward and post at your convenience. Interns support our Field Representatives
and Staff Assistants in drafting memos to the Senator, scheduling or attending meetings with staff,
constituent letters, conducting background research, phone calls, document requests, morning press
clippings, research projects, and attending events with the Senator when she is in the area. For many
citizens, contact with Senator Feinstein's office is their only experience with an elected representative.
Therefore, we need polite and friendly students with some familiarity with the American political
system and current events. Additionally, strong writing and editing skills are a plus. For the summer,
we require a commitment of 3 full days per week for three months. We are very conducive to
working with students' class schedules. Interested students should submit a cover letter, resume, 3
academic/professional references (contact information), and one page writing sample to
