Personal Contact with Ahmed Mohammed and Family

On Monday September 14th, between the hours of 1600-1630, I was working the counter on this date
filling in. Karinna Perla, Records Clerk and myself had called Christina Anguiano, Records Clerk, to help us
with a citizen which was requesting a background check and we had a question about this her
background and Christina being fluient with this type of request came to help us. After we helped the
citizen, Christina stayed a little longer to go over what she had done. The ladies also working the
counter with me state they heard yelling coming from the Community Service area which is just to the
left of our work counter, i did not actually hear the yelling but those that were able to mentioned it.
Maria Diaz, Police Dispatcher walked over to see where the yelling was coming from and states it was
the Mohmmed family arguing with the Sgt Mitchell about releasing their son and dropping the charges
or else he would not be taking his son home with them. At this time is when we see Ofc Taylor walking
with Ahmed passed our window. After a few minutes we see the Ahmed's family coming out of the
Community Service area and start to leave. They have almost reached the exit door to the building
when we see Ahmed turn around and walk back to our window in records and came straight to
Karinna's window and state "He wants his property/devices back" we were all taken aback by his
actions, words and demeanor. He never asked if he could get his property back he was telling us to give
him his property, that it was his, he knew his rights and we had to give it back. We told him at this time
that it was in property being held as evidence. He stated that he had been released and so should his
property. At this time, Christina went to speak with the officers in Comminity Service to advise them of
what Admed was demanding and she was told by Sgt Mitchell the very same things that she had already
told him, that it was evidenc e and would not be returned at this time. It was at this time that Ahmed
got very demanding and slaming his hand on the counter and making his demands even louder, that he
had been released and so should his property. Christina tells him again that it is currently being held as
evidence and this is the time that he raises his voice at Christina, and she tells him not to get an attitude
with her, he was being very rude and aggressive and again wouldnt even let her finish what they was
trying to tell him. It was at this time that Maria Diaz, Police Dispatcher , who was also working the front
counter got up and went to get Sgt Mitchell and Ofc Taylor. The whole time Ahmed was speaking to us
he spoke to us in this aggresive, both his parents and sister was right behind him, they too were all
making comments in English and in a forgein Language. The whole family was being loud and trying to

get their point across about what they were demanding. Ahmed's father then steps in and also starts
telling us that he needs his property back and that he had been released and so should his property. It
was at this time that Christina tells them that they would need to speak with the officers they just met
with and she proceeds to go and get Sgt. Mitchell and Ofc Taylor. The father steps in and continue
making comments and I said to him that we've have sent for the officers invovled to come speak with
them, he just nodded that he understood and stepped away. As we are waiting for Maria to return with
the Officers, Officer Howman walked in front of the records window and they turn to her and start
demaning Ahmed's property. She told them the very same thing, that the property was being held as
evidence and could not be returned at this time. They keep repeating that he had been released and he
should get his property back and she tells them again that it will not be released until it has been
throughly check for any thing that may look suspicious. They were all again rude and demanding to Ofc
Howman about the property. It was at this time that both Sgt. Mitchell and Ofc Taylor both walked out
and explained to them that the property would not be released until it had been throughly checked and
then he would be notified as to when it would or would not be released. Again they just kept getting
louder and louder, not letting Sgt Mitchell even finish his sentences and not listening at all to what he
was saying. After a few minutes of this, Sgt Mitchell told them they could leave, but they continued with
their rants and finally Sgt Mitchell tells them all to leave. They continued to argue with Sgt Mitchell, the
father then yells that he wanted to speak with a supervisor and Sgt Mitchell tells him that he is the
supervisor and to leave but they continued to argue and state that his rights had been violated and they
want his property back, that it was his property that he uses it to do his school work on and that it was
important to get it back right then. The father then states again its his property, his son is a good boy
that he did nothing wrong and that he needs his property back. Finally Sgt Mitchell after repeating
himself several times he finally tells the whole family to leave or be criminally trespassed. They went on
for a few more seconds and then finally started to leave, as they leave the daughter starts yelling and
saying things that we could not understand . The whole ordeal was upsetting but only because of the
actions this family had towards us and not understanding that there is a process for all things and could
only see what they were demanding.
