Dear Friend,
Greetings to you from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse
Church in Torrington, CT. God’s Word is very positive. He watches
over it to bring it to pass, no matter what the circumstances or situations are: God’s
Word will come to pass! There is an elderly woman in our church who recently battled
some health issues. One night as she read her Bible, she came across a chapter that
thrilled her soul. In Jeremiah 33:3 it says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and
shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” The Lord here is
telling the prophet to call unto Him. Why should we carry griefs and troubles and
misunderstandings when the Lord has told us to call unto Him? He cares! The
Scriptures tell us we have not, though we “…desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye
fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because
ye ask amiss…” (James 4:2 & 3). Oh my, what a sad state of affairs! This is why He
said to, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee…” There is an answer for you today
from God’s holy Word!
The verses in Jeremiah went on to say, “Behold, I will bring it health and cure,
and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.”
Isn’t it marvelous to know that the Lord will not only cure you of your maladies but also
reveal to you the abundance of peace and truth? That is just great! But the setting for
these verses was not just for physical healings. He was speaking of bringing
reconciliation to the people of God, no matter how bad things had gotten. He not only
wants people and families to be reconciled, but taking it one step further we read His
motive, that is, everyone to be reconciled with Him! How far have we gotten from the
Lord Himself? He never left us but many times we have left Him! And He desires our
fellowship with Him to be restored completely.
One of the greatest promises in this chapter is found in verse 8, where it says,
“And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against
me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby
they have transgressed against me.” Isn’t it wonderful to know that even though we
have sinned, there is pardon through Christ Jesus our Lord? But we have to bring our
lives to our Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the only one who died for our sins. He
conquered our sinful nature by dying and rising again the third day, according to the
Scriptures. But it is the personal nature of salvation I want you to grasp. He did this, not
just for the world, but for you and me personally. He is a personal Savior who desires
for each of us to receive His sacrifice for our lives. Each of us must ask Him to forgive
us of all our sins (for the Bible says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God).
And we must ask Him to come into our lives, not as a patch of an addition to our old
way of thinking and living, but to come in completely. Don’t worry: He will help us
with the details! Allow the Spirit of God to come upon you and in you, leading you into
the Spirit-filled life He has planned for you.
Getting back to our friend I spoke of earlier, it always amazes me that in the
darkest situations the Lord always brings hope if we turn completely to Him and call on
His name. In Chapter 33 of Jeremiah it was not a good time for the people. The enemy
had invaded the land, and the leaders were corrupt. There were fightings without and
fears within, yet the Lord spoke hope to His people. He gave them light for their
struggles. As we read these passages together, a deep assurance came over us as we
visited in that room. We began to rejoice together, knowing the Lord will perform that
good thing He promised!
What is your need? Call upon Him while He is near. Don’t let this day end
without calling on the name of the Lord. He will answer you and show you great and
mighty things which thou knowest not!
