Human Resource Management
Direction: Answer the following questions briefly but substantial.

Give at least three types of interview and when it should be conducted. Given the questions below
how you will rate your applicant (asked anybody of your co-worker to answer the questions) and
what kind of interview you will be using:
o What do you do on an ongoing basis to keep your professional skills up to date?
o Indicate some of the significant development efforts you have undergone in the last few
years.
o What do you see as the key competencies needed in your current assignment and how
have you gone about developing these?
o What types of efforts are you making to serve your customers (patient) and to exceed
customers expectations?

List and discuss five of the six best-known selection devices that managers can use to reduce,
accept, and reject errors when hiring new employees. Include an analysis of the strengths and
weaknesses of each of these selection devices to support your answer.

Some of the Human Resource Managers at present consider manpower as human capital. How
would you consider yourself as human capital using the components of human capital as ABILITY
+ BAHAVIOR x EFFORT x TIME = HUMAN CAPITAL INVESTMENT. Considering your reasons
how could you apply this information in your profession as future Human Resource Managers.

Some critics claim that corporate HR departments have outlived their usefulness and are not there
to help employees, but to keep the organization from legal problems. What do you think? What
benefits are there in having a formal HRM process?

Explain the reasons why job analysis is important to an organization. Define and discuss the
relationship among job analysis, job description and job specification.

It is schedule performance evaluation of your company. As Supervisor you are about to evaluate
your co-worker who is a friend of yours and at the same time he a 3 rd degree of sanguinity relatives
of your father-in-law. You are aware of his performance as an excellent but due to the family
problem (his sister is a stage 2 cancer patient) from previous month until at present his is always
late and you help him finishing his work. If he gets a low rating his salary will not be increase by
1,500 per month. Give your fair and just evaluation.

Types of Interview
1. Informational Interview
The objective of this interview is to ask for advice and learn more about a particular
career field, employer or particular job. Interviewing experts in their field is one more
way to become more occupationally literate. The knowledge that you gain here will
make you a sharper and more informed. You will also make a contact and further
develop your network.
2. Individual Interview
This is the most common type and often called a personal interview. It is typically a
one-on-one exchange at the organizations offices. In order to best prepare you will
want to know the length of the interview which can usually range from 30 to 90 minutes.
If the interview is 30 minutes you have to be concise and have a high impact with your
answers. If it is 60 or 90 minutes you will want to go into much more depth and use
specific examples to support your generalizations.
3. Task Oriented or Testing Interview
This is a problem-solving interview where you will be given some exercises to
demonstrate your creative and analytical abilities. A company may ask you to take a
short test to evaluate your technical knowledge and skills. Sometimes a presentation to
a group is necessary to determine your communication skills. Try to relax as much as
possible.

Informational Interview

As a nurse, keeping my skills and knowledge up to date is necessary for the reason that
being updated to things around us can make our work easier, faster and can lead us to

more productive work. Based on my experience, these are the things that I do to make
myself updated attend seminars, joining associations (Philippine Nurses Association) and
do trainings ( IVT training, BLS, ACLS)
o Indicate some of the significant development efforts you have undergone in the last few
years.
Attended Masteral Degree and attended National Convention.
o What do you see as the key competencies needed in your current assignment and how
have you gone about developing these?
The key competencies that

Being patient and open minded in dealing their queries and complaints.
