Alligators live in two places: the

China. American alligators can be up
to 11 feet long and weigh up to
1000 pounds. They are much longer
and heavier than Chinese alligators.

The pea crab is smaller than a dime,


but the Japanese Spider Crab is 12

Dolphins communicate with each


other using whistles, clicks, and other
sounds. They eat fish, squid, and
shrimp. The smallest dolphin is only
about 90 pounds, but the largest

24,000 pounds. Thats as much as
12 cars! The elephant is the only

A group of frogs is called an army.


Frogs dont drink water; they absorb
it through their skin. Some tree
frogs can jump fifty times their
length. Thats like you jumping the

A newborn giraffe is taller than most


humans. Giraffes sleep standing up.
And did you know that no two giraffes have the same spot pattern?

for up to 30 minutes. It can live to

They weigh as much as a lima bean!
Red kangaroos can move faster than

Newts are amphibians. They can


live to be over 25 years old, so a
newt could be your pet for a long
time! Most newts lay just one egg at
a time. Some newts pretend to play
dead when threatened.

Orcas are often called killer whales.


They dont usually attack people, but
they kill large ocean animals like sea
lions and whales. No animals hunt
orcas! Orcas can live in both warm
and icy ocean water.

about 18 inches in height. Penguins

The longest snake is the Reticulated


Python. It can be 33 feet long! The
Thread Snake is the smallest and is
the length of a toothpick. Snakes
cant chew their prey, so they swallow it whole.

The largest turtle, the leatherback


sea turtle, can weigh 2000 pounds!
A turtle cannot crawl out of its shell.
Most turtles and tortoises have a
large, dome-shaped shell, but the
African pancake tortoise has a flat,
fexible shell.

The urial is a wild sheep with reddish
brown fur. Urial males have large
curling horns. Females have shorter
horns. The urial lives in Asia.

vultures. They are social birds and
often fly in large flocks. Vultures
have excellent senses of sight and
smell. They can find a dead animal

The blue whale is the largest animal


the world. Its tongue can weigh as
much as an elephant and its heart as
much as a car. But even though its
so big, the blue whale eats tiny

people use yaks to move heavy loads

camouflage, because when zebras
