Since our inception, the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) has been
more than just a provider of training manuals. Our manuals alone, excellent as
they may be, are not the only reason why thousands of educators choose to provide
our training over that of our competitors. We also provide superior educational

As you may know, the 2010 International Consensus Guidelines for

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) will be
released later this year, prompting ECSI and other training organizations to update
materials to reflect these new guidelines. Our manuals, online courses, DVDs, and
instructor CDs must all be revised. Our medical partners, authors, and development
teams have already begun the process of updating these resources to ensure a
timely release of our revised training materials. Besides updated medical content,
our revised materials will also contain scores of enhancements based on feedback
provided by our medical partners, national faculty, and educators like you.
Just as we have an obligation to our students to provide accurate, up-to-date

materials based on best practices, we recognize the need to “train our trainers” in
the nuances of the 2010 guidelines and how to adapt courses to include new content.
We take these obligations seriously. In the coming months, as the release of the new
guidelines approaches, you’ll learn more about the transitional resources we’ll have

About Instructor Renewal

Instructor cards are valid for two years from initial sign-up date. To retain active status, each Instructor
must teach two courses in this period and rosters must be kept on file at the Educational Center. The
Educational Center and Instructor will receive an email reminder prior to reauthorization or expiration.
Instructor cards are mailed to the Educational Center Coordinator for distribution.

About Blended Training

Although our online courses can be used as a substitute for classroom lectures, on-site skills examinations are
required in order to earn a nationally recognized course completion card from ECSI. Here is how the blended
training model works:
