This collection of proceedings were assembled from the original scientific research of participants of
the21thInternational symposium Integration of Archaeologic and Ethnographic Research, which took place in Barnaul
on October 0608, 2015. The symposium dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of S. I. Roudenko and 200th
anniversary of the birth of A. F. Middendorf.
The proceedings collects the work of archaeologists, ethnologists, anthropologists, ecologists and other experts from
Asia, Europe, devoted to studying the problem of how to integrate archaeologic and ethnographic research. The following
themes are addressed: Historiographic aspects of interaction of archaeologic and ethnographic research (personalities,
original approaches, experience and problems of integration); Ethnoarchaeologic research (sources, methodology and
theory); Problems of researching Koulay historical-cultural entity in Western Siberia; Practical research results in the sphere
of integration of archaeology, ethnography and other humanities and natural sciences.
The proceedings will be of interest to experts in the field of archaeology, ethnology, ethnoarchaeology, history,
cultural science and other sciences.

The author discusses factors of transformation of pastoralism from home-based to transhumant in Russian
villages in the mountains of Azerbaijan and the time that took this process to come to an end in the XIXth century.
Russian peasants retained settled way of life but adopted techniques of local seminomadic Azerbaijanis who practiced
winter grazing on lowlands.
