METHODOLOGY
This part deals with data collection method adfopted for the
project

PRIMARY DATA
Primary data is collected through personal interview with
the managers and workers. The information relating to the
production process and labors related related issues are
collected through personal observation
SECONDARY DATA
Secondary data is collected from the accounting records of
the last two years and the implemented steps taken for the
public by the company through media.

INTRODUCTION
The department manages the raw materials required
for the production of motors, Alternators and Geared motors.
The central planning sends the list consisting of quality of
deferent raw materials required for the production for the
next month. This department then purchases the raw
material from outside and dispatches it to the production
department for the processing.
OBJECTIVES :
To prepare components and services for manufacturing
of A.C. motors, alternative and m.g.o. and materials required
by other functional divisions.

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT
INTRODUCTION :
Production department is the main department in any
manufacturing unit as all manufacturing activities are
undertaken by this department.
KEC has always tried to excel in what one knows the
best. In the process of progress, KEC has laid great
emphasis to use the best technology.
A) FEEDER SHOPES :
Shop number I, II & VI are feeder shops.

WORKING PROCESS :
The production dept of K.E.C. unit II is divided into six
different shops. These shops are inter-connected. The
central planning sets the programme and then the
production starts. In case of standard products some
specifications are mentioned, Iot numbers are given to each
product for identification.
INTRODUCTION :
Quality is the fitness to end use. It is all pervasive. In
this modern & competitive world each & every company is
training hard to introduce quality & detect – free products.
K.E.C. is one such industry whose priority is not to be
number one in quantity but in quality and reliability.
KEC tries hard to see that the quality of a product is
ensured by the total investment of all workers. There are
very skilled & smart employees who actively take part in
quality improvement.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
(M.E.D.)
INTRODUCTION :
The manufacturing engineering department & KEC unit
II undertake the designing of tooling, jigs, fixtures, dies on
planning & procurement of the capital equipment.
OBJECTIVES :
M.E.D. is responsible for capital equipment purchase,
process engineering and design of tooling, jigs and fixtures &
are activities using appropriate methods.
FUNCTIONS :
• Preparation of drawings of jigs, fixtures, dies, tooling,
storage devices.
• Revision or drawings with design changes.
• Co-ordination with production dept for finalizing the
manufacturing process.
COMPUTER DIVISION
INTRODUCTION :
Today is a world of computers. Most of companies are
now computer based so KEC unit II connected with LAN
(Local Area Network) all the accounts records are maintained
by the computer division.
OBJECTIVES :
To explain the various facilities available in computer
division for performing services to all the computer &
accessories.
FACILITIES :
The processing facilities available in computer division areas
under.
• Providing interruptible power supply to all computer
& accessories.
• Facilities to generate management information
system reports.
• Computer hardware & software maintenance.
FUNCTIONS :
• Maintenance of computer hardware & accessories.
• Preventive maintenance of computer & accessories.
• Maintenance, modification, development of computer
software.
• Software revalidation – software are revalidated
annually as per the procedure defined in software
revalidation & the records are maintained.
FINANCE DEPARTMENT
INTRODUCTION :
Every company needs finance for its survival. It is the
LIFE BLOOD for the existence of any company. Finance
department is concerned with planning & controlling of
company’s financial resources.
Audits such as cash audits, internal audits, cost audits
are done per month. There are sixteen banker of KEC.
Among them are bank of India, Hongkong bank, state bank
of India etc. Trade creditors of raw material such as copper
& steel is SAIL & HINDUSTAN coppers Ltd.
OBJECTIVES :
To see that the audit takes place one time & not violate
any orders coming from higher authorities.
FUNCTIONS :
• Cash & Bank balance.
• Costing is undertaken.
• Payment of Suppliers.
• Payroll activities consisting mainly of salary,
provident fund, ESI, income taxes.
• Sundry debtors.
• Major functions of finance department are excise
function & reconciliation of major accounts.
PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT
INTRODUCTION:
There are basically four factors of production i.e.
material, machinery, and money and man, materials are
handled by MMD and machinery by production, Money by
Finance & Human Resource (Man) is undertaken by
personnel department. Personnel department is concerned
with the people at work. This department takes each of the
workers right form the time they are recruited till their
retirement.
OBJECTIVES :
• To look after the recruitment, selection, promotion of
employees.
• To look after welfare, safety and health of
employees.
• To look after the security vigilance in the factory
premises.
FUNCTIONS :
• Labor welfare and canteen administration.
• All types of training programmers for employees held
by personnel department.
• ISO records and audits.
• Maintenance of all registers and files pertaining to
above job and responsibilities.
• Security and safety.
• Fire fighting equipments.
