Abstract: The regeneration of asphalt can effectively


promote the effect of recycling waste materials from
pavement, saving resources and protecting ecological
environment, so it can bring a great economic and
social benefit. First, This paper analyzes the
importance of asphalt recycling technology, the
present developing situation, the classification of
asphalt pavement recycling technology, characteristics
and scope of application. Then, the key problem on
the development of asphalt recycling technology
needed to be resolved is put forward. Finally, the
development prospect of the recycling technology is
forecasted.

II. CURRENT SITUATION OF THE RECYCLING


TECHNOLOGY

I. THE STRATEGIC SIGNIFICANCE OF ASPHALT

Asphalt recycling technology is an important part of
the strategy of sustainable development of highway

the present stage of our country. Mainly in the following

study recycling pavement performance of asphalt mixture,

But these researches mainly focus on the hot in-place
recycling technology. Research on plant hot recycling
technology is very weak, can not fully meet the
requirements of high-grade pavement recycling
technology. As the asphalt pavement recycling technology
is a new technology in our country, the application of
further standardize on the asphalt pavement recycling
technology is difficulty,.

C. Great value of regenerating wasted asphalt mixture


1) Economic value
The old asphalt pavement material recycling economic
value, mainly with the new asphalt pavement from the
amount of materials, construction techniques were

regeneration. Hot central plant recycling technology has

C. Hot Regeneration from local


Using the technology of thermal regeneration of
asphalt pavement is a kind of international level of high
grade technology, is a kind of local repair process of
damaged pavement pavement, it softened by heating, then
mixed waste to scoop up the pavement, and asphalt
binders, sometimes may also need to add some new
aggregate. Then the recycled material to shop in the
original road. Generally use a large "hot recycling of

convenient construction, good bearing capacity, for

environmental protection; disadvantage is the regeneration
of depth, usually limited to 2.5~6cm; cannot be removed

temperature, the cold season for construction, cold and
rainy days efficiency will be reduced; cannot correct
belongs to the structure destruction; must use special
regeneration restore asphalt performance, difficult to
guarantee the durability of pavement; cannot be processed
by surface layer modified asphalt paving.
Scope of application: applicable to exist only shallow
minor diseases of Expressway and one or two highway
asphalt pavement surface layer in situ regeneration,
regeneration of surface layer can be used in the upper
layer.

A. Hot regeneration from plantmix


The asphalt mixture on the recovery in the factory
centralized processing, is a practical, flexible, convenient
and can ensure the quality of asphalt pavement recycling
technology. Factory thermal regeneration method is the
old asphalt pavement after digging after back mixing plant,
and then concentrated crushing, according to different
levels of quality requirements for pavement, mix design,
determine the old asphalt mixture proportion, regeneration,

flexible base.

Cold regeneration from plantmix


The mixture is used as a base or subbase. The old
material to stabilized soil mixing plant by crushing as
stable aggregate, adding lime or cement, fly ash,
emulsified asphalt, one or more stabilizers and new
material (when necessary) to stir, and then used for paving.
The technology can not make full use of the old asphalt,
and the old asphalt also to some extent affect compressive
strength of mixture, but its production process almost do
not need special equipment can realize. For not hot
recycling old material recycling (such as modified asphalt
mixture mixture, serious aging difficult regeneration), to
effectively solve the problems of old material waste and
environmental pollution, it has very important value of
application.

D. Cold regeneration from local


Cold in-place recycling according to different recycled
material and thickness of the asphalt layer is: cold in-place
recycling and full deep cold-place recycling. Using a
dedicated recycling machine in the field of milling,
digging, crushing, adding new material (including
emulsified asphalt or other regeneration agent, stabilizer
and aggregate), mixing, paving and preloading, the roller
compaction.

asphalt pavement of highway one or two, level three, for
the highway should be demonstrated. For the one or two
highway, regeneration layer can be used as bottom layer
and base, to three road, the regeneration layer can be used
as a surface layer, base layer, as above, should be used in
slurry seal, crushed stone seal, micro-surfacing, upper
seal.

D. Development of flexible mechanic for recycling


Paving asphalt pavement regeneration, procedures,
process complexity, both to increase employment, but also
quite troublesome. Therefore, how to improve the level of
mechanization of construction, reducing manual labor, is
the asphalt pavement recycling technology key of large
area promotion. A large area of paving asphalt pavement
regeneration, in urgent need of road digging machine,
crushing, sieving, old mechanical mixing machinery etc..
Not only have the suitable for large mechanical mixing
plant, but also has a variety of small tools for maintenance
departments. Therefore, the development of various
recycling machine is in a crunch time.

IV. PROSPECTS OF ASPHALT PAVEMENT RECYCLING


TECHNOLOGY

Asphalt recycling technology R & D project must rely
on the construction project of a certain size, on large
numbers of test, construction technology, detection and
summing up the work, the formation of construction
technology of set. This is the need to provide appropriate
depending on the project for the technology research and
development, also need to get the government quality
supervision departments of the understanding and policy
support in the acceptance of work, also suggested the
government according to the need of regional
development, outstanding environmental protection and
recycling of the important position, the introduction of
policies to restrict the correlation and encouraging policy,
to promote the healthy development of asphalt recycling
technology and the widespread application, give full play
to its social benefits, and create the necessary conditions
for the sustainable development of highway construction.

V. CONCLUSION
With the increase of high grade highway in China and
the increasing of maintenance and repair tasks, piling up a
lot of waste asphalt pavement materials will enable the
efficient use of resources, waste storage site and
environmental protection becomes more and more
outstanding, asphalt pavement recycling utilization of
waste materials will not only is a technical problem, but a
social problem. Asphalt pavement recycling technology
can give full play to the old pavement materials "surplus
value", to promote the old pavement material recycling,
protecting the ecological environment, reduce the waste of
resources, and has considerable economic and social
benefit. Therefore, to carry out a wide range of asphalt
pavement recycling technology research, promotion and
application is imminent and brook no delay problem, it to
our country to realize the sustainable development strategy
of the government has important strategic significance.

B. Introducing relevant norms and standards


In view of the regeneration has remarkable economic
benefits and social environmental benefits of asphalt
pavement, should be widely used, at the same time, along
with the high grade asphalt pavement in China is
increasing, in the future will face the old road more
recycling problem. The current domestic pavement
recycling technology, also just test research summary, in
the recycling agent technology standard, recycled asphalt
mixture technical index, various possible road grade,
recycled asphalt pavement structure design of technical
parameters and a series of technical problems, with certain
one-sidedness and limitation, the lack of universal
significance, influence the popularization and application
of this technology. Therefore, on the basis of the existing
research results of asphalt recycling technology to conduct
a comprehensive, systematic arrangement, experimental
verification, which achieves the specification and
standardization.
