What are your choices when someone holds a gun to your head?

You do what they say

or they shoot you, right? Wrong! You take the gun. You pull out a bigger gun or you call
their bluff or you do one of another 146 other things Harvey Specter told Mike in the TV
series Suits.
Gripped onto the verge of my seat, I was intrigued by such an inspirational message
which sent shockwaves down my spine. Juxtaposing the TV series and my ever
wandering search for true passion, it has taken over a span of six months in a Science
foundation course to make me realise that my passion does not belong to the
achievements in the scientific innovations of technology or mankind itself, neither does it
lie within the inner biological or psychological works of the human mind or body; but
rather in something that is more subjectively inclined to the ability to encapsulate a vast
array of fundamental essence of theology and philosophy.
Thinking back, I have understood from a holistic point of view that my dreams to be a
doctor or a neurosurgeon when I was younger were all merely just dreams, and like
dreams, such thoughts only exist when you are unconscious, or asleep to your inner
being and your hidden passions, of which are beyond our control. Rather then, I decided
to set a goal. Goals, unlike dreams are substantially more objective in nature as they
possess characteristics such that we only have a single one in life. Of which usually life
places more than one goalkeeper in front, symbolizing the obstacles we face during the
process of success.
Law itself is defined as a whole system of rules made by respective people. I believe that
this subject complements by characteristics very well as I am one who likes to find faults,
not in actions but more in written configurations. Being observant and sensitive to errors
or slight alterations in my everyday life, I was exhilarated when I knew the legal system
was ridded of loopholes because I know it was a window of opportunity for me to grab as
I have now the choice to either to exploit the loopholes or to make amendments to them.
Having taken part in numerous debate tournaments in high school, there was one thing I
realised that has always been consistent in many amateurs including myself, which was
the lack of ability to present base arguments and facts in a proper manner. Instead all we
do is talk in a rather up-toned accent with raised voices and try our best to persuade the
panel that we are right and that the other team is not, without taking into consideration
many imperative factors.
Everything changed when I first joined my first mooting competition organised by
Australias Bond University. I was perplexed at the structure of the mock court case, its
complex process and its formality in addressing either a defendants or the plaintiffs
case. All of such has effectively consolidated my enthusiasm in pursuing Law as my
undergraduate degree. Upon completing my pre-university foundation course, I wasted
no time in searching for resources online and found a Law of Contract electronic book
published by the University of London. Upon reading the first few pages, I grinned a smile
of satisfaction as I read and understood the problems in the law of contract of which we
could encounter in the chance of being charged.
I am a person who is not afraid to attempt new things in life as I believe learning and
experience are very powerful guiding tools to a bright future. This can be seen as I
endeavour challenges through teamwork in many competitions I have joined, of which
mainly are the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge, Mooting competition, debate
competitions, Mighty Minds Challenge and many others which are listed on my profile.
Possessing a good proficiency in the English language, I have represented my school in
the RHB Spell-It-Right contest, of which I made into the finals of the spelling bee contest
and also have been nominated as Treasurer of the schools English Club. Being
thoroughly active does play a role in nurturing qualities such as leadership, discipline and
responsibility. This can be seen from my participation in sports such as badminton, in
uniformed body clubs such as Scouts and Red Cross and also in the acquiring of new

skills such as to learn how to play the yoyo and the piano by myself. For the past years I
have been a part time customer service worker in my parents company and also as a
tutor in an education centre over the past few months.
With such, I intend to enter a profession that aligns with the interests and aptitudes I have discovered
and developed over the span of my studies. Requesting to be accepted into the university is another
way of summarising my statement, however, I would like to script it in such a way that my acceptance
would be defined as a wise intellectual investment without utter regrets as I understand that the
honours would be mine to uphold the integrity and of what symbolizes the universitys identity to the
rest of the world.
