Dilemmas of political financing

regulations
Yerko Franasovic Braine
The text was based on an interview regarding political financing regulations that made him a group
of academics to Professor Thomas E. Mann.
The central theme of the text is based on the relationship between money and politics and how
political campaigns are financed elections. Also, keep a close these two concept which is corruption,
as if the financing is not regulated in the field of politics you can find two types of edges. The first
corresponds to the side of the company, it finances the political campaign mode to get future
permits, concessions or even laws can serve to this, so that this is buying those who will be the
leaders of the country question.
On the other hand, it should also regulate the power that public figures, as this may be a kind of
bribe from these entities to businesses, so as to extort so they must accept that the law harms do
not curse.
Another important matter was transparency, it is known that political campaigns were financed by
companies, which from an external analysis can be seen as some corruption. That is why the display
of the expenses, income, gift, for to have a notion of what companies have been relating to money
and its amount in the final contribution to the campaign suggests.
In addition, it was noted as a relevant issue revenue limit on donations because that way you can
generate a certain level in the restriction that a company can give specific campaign. With this it is
achieved that there is a maximum income level, so that there is no abysmal inequality between
campaigns, in addition to a large amount of money can not observe from a company to a campaign
specific, which would translate into a bribe.
When the concept of money and politics related, took into account that there must be rules,
because if there are no limits, we would observe a much stronger campaign on the use of the media,
so companies do not receive too much income would be affected by thi s. Money and
communication are two factors that are closely related to the power of political parties, whereby
the transmission of the message and the power of the media could be uneven.
Finally, the Chilean case presents several edges that the interviewer found both good and bad.

Regarding media communication, is presented as a good option that a certain amount of minutes
taken into transmission and even more if it is free, but they still should be able to raise funds and
use other means to transmit information to people.
It is relevant to an improvement in political finance laws because it can not be that there is no
regulation regarding the income limits, donations and also no inventory or report on how, whenand
where you have come from money. This is why it is suggested that there is a gradual improvement
in transparency and indirect subsidies, trying to tackle corruption also by other means, and then see
how it works for a period.
