We are proud to announce that the National Graduate Instltutc for Policy Studies

(GRIPS) has started a new 5-year Ph.D. program called "GRIPS Global Governance
Program (Glcube)" In Ocbber 2014.

G-cube Is Syear program, Master's and W.D., that alms to create leader or leaders who
have a broad perspective based on flrm knowledge In history and ilberal arts, and can
deal wlth varlou Issues that are arlslng due to the ernerglng new world order and
changlng power dynarnlcs, whether they are In government, private sector or
lntematlonal organlzatlons.

The program was developed out of a sense of crlsls that the world Is faced with new and
serious problems, such as flnanclal crlses, terrarlsm, energy challenges, and
environmental issue, behind whlch Ile c~nfllctlng interests, large value gaps,
dysfunctional global governance systems, escalating gbbailzatlon, the rise of ernerglng
states, and drastic changes In the dlstrlbutlon of wealth and power In the world; and a
new type of leader b needed to address these problems and forge a path to a new age.
GRIPS has taken on as part of Its mission to respond to thls call and produce such leader
of leaders needed In these changlng times.

The program Is about ta welcome Its second batch of students, 11 Ram all over the world,
who were selected out of more than 140 applicatlars thls year. For year 2016, to start In
October 2016, deadllne for application submlsslon Is November 13,2015. The standard
enrollment perlod W 5 years, but the curriculum Is designed 60 mat hard-worklng
students wlH be able t~ complete In 3 years,

Plnantlal Guppert
Generous flnanclal support Is oflered; students will receive full scholarship during their
stay In Japan: enkrance and tultlon k e s wlll be waived; and students from overseas w11I
be pmvlded a round-trlp economy-dass slr ticket. Further, once they complete the
MZtster16 course and enter the Doctoral murse, students wlll fx entltled to a research

fund.
We have prepared first-class professors and practltlonux, a flexible yet challenging
turrlculum, and goad RnandaI support for thls prngrarn. Now all we need are good
