Heneral Luna

Antonio Luna is very well-known for his contributions for the Philippine
Independence, but little do people know about his many other parts. Aside from
being a military prowess, which obviously what the movie put in pedestal highlight,
Heneral Luna was a multi-talented Filipino leader.
During his high school years in Ateneo, he was known for his academic inclination in
chemistry, who graduated with high honors. He pursued a career in Pharmacy who
was then known to be the first Filipino with a doctoral degree in Pharmacy. He was
also commissioned for several scientific missions concerning malaria as well as
bacteria in contagious diseases. He also made notable contributions to public
health.
He also learned military tactics and was taught how to handle a sword on his young
age. He studied military science and tactics in Belgium, went back to the Philippines
and was chosen as over-all Commander of the Filipino forces during the FilipinoAmerican War. He displayed a wide-range of capabilities in terms of military
techniques which, I believe, can be traced down from his early exposure to different
skill-developing activities.
He was also into literary, he was into writing poems. In the movie, a more
interesting revelation about Luna was his love for sports like fencing as well as
getting musically inclined and be able to play many different instruments. He really
excelled with almost everything that he does.
Antonio Luna really had a scientific yet heroic life. He contributed things beyond the
battlefield that the future generation should be hungry to know more about.
