McCreary County
Highlights
2015 marked the 10th annual KBF Extreme Build in McCreary County. This years recipients were Tasha Eldridge and her two children, Lucas and Gracie. With help from over 115 volunteers from across the state we were
able to complete the build on time. Through this miracle of partnerships, we celebrate with Tasha and her family.
Partnership with St. Stephen Church
Dr. Kevin Cosby, president of Simmons College and pastor of St. Stephen Baptist, a church of several thousand
members in Louisvilles largely African-American West End, came to Spring Gathering for a question and answer with KBF moderator Bob Fox. Over 50 people gathered to listen and learn about St. Stephen and Simmons
College, and to discuss what joining the Fellowship means to him and his church.
Youth Missions Weekend
Over 75 youth from across the state came together in Georgetown for a weekend of
Bible study, worship, fellowship and missions. They participated in mission activities
with several organizations throughout central Kentucky. Last fall the KBF and BSK
facilitated conversations with local congregations around the topic of worship. Those
conversations led to the production of When You Gather Together, a curriculum
designed to help churches continue talking about worship. The project was organized,
produced and edited entirely by volunteers. It includes introductory essays about
gathering, confessing, interceding, proclamation and sending. Each essay is followed
by a lesson for adults, youth, children and preschool-kindergarten. Also included are
recommendations for teaching students with IDD (Intellectual and Developmental
Delays). The curriculum can be downloaded from the KBF website.
Payday Lending Advocacy Days
The KBF in conjunction with Georgetown Colleges Center for Christian Discernment and Academic Leadership hosted a two-day conference where participants heard from state and national leaders about what individuals and
local congregationscan do to help the most vulnerable and at risk families get
out of the payday lending debt trap.
Partnership Without Borders KBF/EEAM Kentucky 2014 Tour
Last fall we welcomed students and leaders from the EEAM churches in Morocco. The trip began and ended with times of celebration at Broadway Baptist
