In the Hunger Games, teenagers are represented in various different

ways. Through Katniss character, teenagers are portrayed as strong,
determined and brave. However, female teenagers are usually
represented as needing a partner/support, dependant and usually
tend to get worried quickly. Therefore, Katniss is the opposite of
what the media portrays female teenagers. This tells us that this is an
anti-stereotype. On the other hand, representations that we
interpreted from Peetas character differ. The fact that Peeta is best
characterized by his love for Katniss and willingness to sacrifice him
self for her tells us that he isnt as single-minded and is thinking
about protecting Katniss before himself. Peeta is presented as
unselfish and generous, which in fact, is also an-stereotypical, due to
the fact that the media usually portrays teenagers as selfish, arrogant
and only care about their own safety. Teenagers are usually shown as
being quite reserved, however, these characters show the audience
differently. Teenagers are represented as independent and
considerate in the Hunger Games. An example of this is the teenagers
in the film do helpful things that are beneficial towards other
teenagers and their families. Teenagers are also portrayed as
unenthusiastic and lazy. However, as we have established, teenagers

in the film are determined to win the game. Therefore, resulting in it

being an anti-stereotype.

The Amazing Spiderman Character List:

Peter Parker
Gwen Stacy
Captain Stacy
Uncle Ben
Dr Curt Connors
Flash Thompson
May Parker
Richard Parker
Aunt May
Rajit Ratha

Main Character profiles:

Name: Peter Parker

Age: 28

Peter Parker is a lonely, unpopular, and nerdy

high schooler. He was very smart and is very
interested in education. His parents were
killed when he was a small child(6 years old),
in an airplane crash. His Aunt May and Uncle
Ben Parker adopted and raised him as their
own child. The love of Peter's life is Mary Jane
Watson, the most popular girl in high school.

Name: Gwen Stacy

Age: 28

Gwen Stacy, the same age as Peter, was his

girlfriend. She is a science major. Gwens
father was a cop for the New York Police
Department and died in a fight against
spider-man. Gwen Stacy tragically dies when
Spider-man shoots web in order to try and
catch her. Unfortunately he was late by a
split second.

Name: Captain Stacy

Age: 53

Captain Stacy is Gwen Stacy's father and he

strongly approves of his daughter's relationship
with Peter Parker. He is also a strong supporter of
Spider-Man, often defending him when others
accuse him. George Stacy works for the New York
Police Department and died in a fight against
spider-man and as he dies, reveals to Peter that
he has been aware of his identity for a while.

Teenagers are represented as responsible and reasonable. The

protagonist is a teenage boy. The fact that its a male figure as the
protagonist is typical as the male gender is portrayed as powerful
and strong. Alternatively, the protagonist still has some typical
elements that are expected. The fact that this male is in love suggests
a sense of weakness, which could affect the performance/behaviour
of this character in the movie. Teenagers are represented as mature.
This is clearly shown when Peter Parker becomes Spider-man. The
fact that spider-man is faced with various problems, that he is
responsible to fix, tells us that he is a sensible and dependable.
Therefore, this results in it being an anti-stereotype. I know this as
teenagers are often portrayed as immature and irresponsible.
Teenagers are also represented as strong, determined and brave.
This results in majority of teenagers being presented in a fairly
positive way.
