Lesson Plan 2
A. Personalization / Individualization / Differentiation
Learning Goals. Who selected what is being learned?
o The teacher selected what is being learned. We will be reading
Paddington: Special Edition.
Learning Activity. Who selected how it is being learned?
o The teacher (myself) selected how it is being learned. They will be
learning about the country of Peru and London.
Assessment of Learning. Who selected how students demonstrate their knowledge
and skills and how that will be assessed?
o As the teacher I am selecting what is being assessed and how students will
demonstrate their knowledge. There will be a Quizlet after the content on
Peru and London is taught.
Technology Selection. Who selected which technologies are being used?
o As the teacher I selected which technologies are being used.
B. Agency / Control / Ownership / Choice / Interest / Passion
Talk Time. During the lesson/unit, who is the primary driver of the talk time?
o Both. The teacher (myself) would read Paddington: Special Edition story
aloud to the class. I will also be explaining where Peru and London are on
a map and we will be discussing as a class Paddingtons travels.
Work Time. During the lesson/unit, who is the primary driver of the work time?
o Students and teachers. The teacher will be lecturing and reading the story,
while students respond to questions in class and eventually responding to
questions on a Quizlet.
Interest-Based. Is student work reflective of their interests or passions?
o The students will most likely be curious as to where/what Peru and
London are having never heard of this before. This can be compared to
where the students are from or where they have traveled, which they are
most likely passionate about.
Technology Usage. Who is the primary user of the technology?
o Both the students and the teacher are primary users of technology. The
teacher (myself) has created a screencast explaining how to use Thinglink,
which the students will be using to learn more about Peru and London.
The student and teacher both use the Quizlet because the teacher (myself)
had to create it and the students take it.
C. Communication
Audience. How are students communicating?
o The students will be communicating with the teacher (myself) by
responding to questions/discussions in class and by eventually taking the
Quizlet.

Communication Technologies. Are digital technologies being used to facilitate the

communication processes?
o Yes, the Screencast-o-matic is being used to explain to students what a
Thinglink is and how to use it. This tool can help them study for the Quiz
that will be on Quizlet.

D. Collaboration (co-working, co-creating; more than just communication)

Collaborators. How are students working?
o The work for this is individual, however students will respond to
discussions and questions in class. Students can also discuss what they
find on the Thinglink with other students in the class.
Collaborative Technologies. Are digital technologies being used to facilitate
collaborative processes?
o Yes. The Screencast-o-matic video is used to explain how to use the
Thinglink.
E. Authenticity / Relevancy
Real or Fake. Is student work authentic and reflective of that done by real people
outside of school?
o Yes. In real life students will need to know about other countries and
cultures.
Contribution. Does student work make a contribution to an audience beyond the
classroom walls to the outside world?
o Yes. This lesson on Peru and London can be useful as students progress
throughout the rest of their education.
F. Discipline-Specific Inquiry
Domain Knowledge. Are students learning discipline-specific and -appropriate
content and procedural knowledge?
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.1.8

Quizlet.

practices and processes?
o Yes, these standards are appropriate for first grade.
